The Joys of Caravanning

Our first visit to this site - but not our last. It is a little remote being at the southern end of the Rhinns but well worth the journey time through what is some lovely coast/countryside and views. We were lucky enough to have a pitch right at the front of the site overlooking the bay - just a 30 second walk onto the beach. The site covers a large area and as such even when its busy you never lose the feeling of space. It is a lovely peaceful site were you can unwind and take life at a slower pace. The surrounding area offers plenty to do at Port Patrick, Port Logan, The Botanical Gardens and of course the Mull of Galloway. For the size of site I was surprised that although there are two separate toilet blocks the number of showers in each was quite low. Queues did form in the mornings. The facilities themselves were well maintained by wardens you never noticed. They were excellent quietly going about there work with a smile while you relaxed and enjoyed the holiday.

Peaceful Site. Great Beach Location.

Recently returned from our first visit of 7 nights at the New England Bay site. A warm welcome from the Warden on arrival. A large site but easy to find a secluded pitch; not many Hardstandings but the Grass pitches drained well despite some heavy rain. Toilet & showers very clean but one Gents shower 'out of order' for several days leading to queues on a couple of mornings. Excellent Fish & Chips from van that visits site on Tuesday and Friday evenings. Very good Bread/Cakes from Artisan Baker who visits site on Saturday morning. A relaxing first stay at this site to which we will return.

Great Peaceful Location

This was our 1st visit to the area and apart from the weather we loved it! The site is spacious but do watch for people who's cars cannot do 5mph! There is so much to do in the area and if you like the sea then this is the place for you??. The wardens were really knowledgeable and we found plenty of great places to eat. Our favourite places to visit were Port Logan with it's lovely beach, and Portpatrick with it's pretty harbour. We also enjoyed the gardens at Dunskey and the maze is a must for the youngsters. We went to the lighthouse, cafe and RSPB cottage near the tip of the Mull of Galloway on a particularly murky day but it just added to the atmosphere of the area.

Great Site

We have been to New England Bay  since 1989, the wardens (with 1 year exception) have been amazing, they have maintained the site exceptionally well, always cheerful and friendly. The area is just lovely an easy part of Scotland to miss! The site is virtually, but not completely midge free too. Be careful when driving around, a lot of people do NOT stick to 5mph speed limit and "off the leash children" use the road as a race track, but thats down to poor parenting rather than a site fault.just such a great place to relax, its own micro climate......who needs Costa Del Spain ! Best wishes to this years departing wardens....lovely people.

New England Bay

Just returned from our 5th visit to this site, this is one of our favourite sites. Although this is a large site you get the impression that there is plenty of room. Our favourite places to visit are Port Logan with it's lovely beach, and Port Patrick with it's pretty harbour. Castle Kennedy Gardens is well worth a visit. The only negative point is there could be more shower cubicles, there are only three showers, for a site this big there should be more. Having said that it won't stop us from returning to New England Bay next year.

Comment from The Club:

Thanks so much for leaving a review and we are delighted that you enjoyed your time at New England Bay. We just wanted to clear up any confusion and let you know that actually the Site has 9 male and 9 female showers available at the moment. I hope this information helps for future visits and the wardens look forward to greeting you again soon.

Great site for that 'end-of-the-world' feeling....

This is a really nice site with big pitches and big views; the beach and sea in front, Dumfries and Galloway to the left, and the Isle of Man on the horizon. Our evening walks on the beach to the sound of curlews were unforgettable. There is good walking on the peninsular (which feels like an island), with some walks straight from the site. The cycling is exceptional on quiet lanes, again straight from the site, with Drummore within easy reach (pubs, cafes, and shop), the lighthouse, cafe and RSPB cottage at the SW tip of the Mull of Galloway is a more demanding bike ride but well worth the effort if you are fit, and the small roads across to Portpatrick (25m return, up-and-down-and-up again) also well worth a visit, as is Port Logan (though the pub here has closed). Logan Gardens are also a must and a pleasant walk (excellent bistro), as are the gardens of Logan House if you like that kind of thing. There's a lot to do here if you like the quiet life on holiday, and the wardens are extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the area.

Paradise

We have been going to this site for more than 23 years. We have watched it develop during this time, but it has always remained our favourite site. Our children have grown up with it, and last year our grandaughter came to visit, adding yet another generation. The wardens are fabulous, and so nice. The whole site is spotless, and well kept. We stayed 3 weeks, and have the bank holiday booked there, plus another 2 weeks in September. Long may it carry on, it really is paradise xxx
