Peace and Quiet reigns!

For such a large site, NEB, offers wonderful tranquility, particularly at this time of the year. This part of Scotland is incredibly quiet and unspoilt - excellent if you particularly enjoy road cycling as the interconnecting farm roads are fabulous for this. The site itself offers lots of pitches with good privacy if wanted, others with sea views and many right opposite the shoreline. Facilities up to usual club standard, friendly and helpful wardens, and a fish and chip van which visits on a Tues and Saturday evening is excellent. A great place for all outdoor lovers and for everyone who appreciates peace and quiet.

1st visit

This was our first visit and will not be our last. A perfect site for the long weekend we had but not sure if the surrounding area within reasonable traveling distance could support a week or longer holiday. That said the lighthouse at the Mull of Galloway is a must visit and if you are lucky enough and get a good day like we had then you can see Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man and Cumbria. Portpatrick is a lovely little harbour but apart from the lifeboat station and a couple of hotels serving meals not a lot else. Forget Stranraer for anything other than supermarket shopping and fuel this town looks as though it has suffered from the ferry terminal moving to up the coast.

Beautiful scenic site

Loved this site, very scenic, clean and very spacious with a selection of different kinds of pitches. Able to get advice and pick own pitch which suited our dogs being so close to the lovely beach. Would definitely visit again, to get away from it all. Highly recommend for getting away from it all.

A long overdue return

It’s 20+ years since we visited this site previously as a family with 2 touring caravans. The site is still as beautiful- pitching areas for all tastes and a great beach for family fun, boats and dogs. Most pitches are grass but there are a few hard standing pitches, some pitches are in sheltered gorse lined areas and there are lots of pitches on the front very close to the beach. There seemed to be a few seasonal pitches and there are facilities for boat owners including a boat wash at one of the toilet blocks. Facilities are up to the usual high standards and there are 2 toilet blocks. The wardens are very friendly and hard working and the office has a good range of necessary supplies including camping goods and milk etc (especially liked the idea of frozen lemon and ice supplies for the G&T). A fish and chip van calls as does a wet fish van- though we didn’t get chance try them out. This time we came in a motorhome. We found our ideal pitch and enjoyed fantastic weather for the first 2 days. We were happy to stay around site- Mum has had a heart attack recently so isn’t as mobile as before. However the lack of public transport could be an issue for motor-homers wanting a longer stay if they don’t want to take the van off pitch. For a family break or for those with dogs, the beach and the dunes make this is the perfect site especially if you’re in a caravan and have the car if you want/need to go further afield. If the weather is fine, I can’t see that most people would venture far from the site and the beach. A special mention needs to go to Steve the warden who helped in the pouring rain on our 3rd day when I was unable to undo the gas valve to change the empty cylinder. He then went above and beyond to bring the new cylinder to save me carrying it back to the opposite end of the site from the office. Saved the day- thanks so much. All in all a lovely stay and I will be recommending it to friends. Hope to return again soon.

A great site for adventurous kids young and old

Second stay that was just as good as our first. Cleverly laid out site with a pitch type to suit everyone. A stroll from a beach and a bay perfect for water based adventures - grandkids and grandparents in their element. Loads of interesting things to do in the surrounding area, we didn't travel further than Stranraer, 20 minutes away, and even then that was just for food and diesel. You need to be prepared to experience the outdoors because that's what this place is about, there isn't much else if you're taking children that are used to entertainment being provided for them. Friendly, welcoming staff and the usual clean facilities.

Peaceful site.

Our first visit to this site but will not be our last. If you want peace and tranquility then this is the site for you. Friendly and helpful staff and clean facilities although we were surprised that the facilities appeared to be small for the number of people on site but, having said that, we did not experience any problems. We are motorhomers and prefer to use public transport when on site and we are trying to encourage the Club to provide more information about public transport near to sites. In the case of this site the information is incorrect, there is not a bus stop near to the site and, according to the wardens, the bus service is unreliable so we were unable to use public transport. If you are interested in nature or just like looking at nice scenery then a visit to the Mull of Galloway peninsula is a must, there is an excellent cafe and it is very easier to spend a whole day there exploring the area.

Excellent site

Marvelous site, clean tidy and well maintained. Wardens exceptional and very helpful. Asked (in the morning) if it was possible to have a hook in the washing up area to hang a coat on whilst washing up, by mid afternoon two hooks were installed! Thank you for a lovely week.

Beautiful site

large open site all grass pitches. it slopes slightly towards the sea but it is also terraced so no problem with levelling. we pitched on the front right up the end, we were protected from the beach by sand dunes but the beach was about 100 yards through the dunes to a beautiful sandy beach perfect for walking the dogs. lots of circular walks off the site all available from the tourist information hut on the site. fish and chips available Friday and Wednesday evenings are were delicious. pretty decent shop in the office too serving local ice cream - lovely. we had a really enjoyable few days here on our way to Ireland, the tidal sea pond is interesting and worth a visit as is the lighthouse. we would go again our dogs loved the beach

Fantastic as always

Just returned from another lovely stay. As always, all the wardens were hard working, friendly and helpful. The shop is well stocked compared to previous years, and the site is perfectly kept. The only downside for us this time was some inconsiderate visitors on site who let their kids play and ride their bikes around our van, which kept us on edge somewhat! Also some visitors were driving onto the beach over any point they chose and not the vehicular access part. Not a massive issue but it seems a shame to damage the beautiful scenery through idleness or ignorance. Will definitely return, as this is our favourite ever site. Thank you to all the lovely wardens who as usual were brilliant.
