Good site in Nice location.

Arriving at the site is quite welcoming, with the arrivals area well planted with flowers, ornamental gardens etc. It is well laid out, and quite easy to tootle round looking for your ideal pitch. There are plenty of well placed service points. The site is kept clean and tidy by "the crew". My only recommendation for this site would be to provide entry and exit barriers to prevent unwanted access from unauthorised vehicles. At the moment anyone can drive in and around the site.

Broads base....

We spent a week here in late August and enjoyed, in the main, fine weather. A night of 30 mph winds proved a little distracting but with no undue consequences. This is a good base for both walking and cycling in the area, without the need to drive. The Dog Inn and the Wayfarer Cafe at Ludham Bridge moorings - both only a few hundred yards away - are convenient and friendly. The King's Arms in Ludham is a little further away - but reached by pleasant back lanes - and provides excellent food and ales with good restaurant, bar, and marquee.alternatives. Other and key family / visitor attractions all involve a car journey given distance and route constraints (few bridges over the waterways). The site is very well-maintained by a friendly set of wardens and is a modern club-site. We used a serviced pitch with new bollards and all worked well throughout and facilitated the use of on-board facilities in preference to the site showers, etc. The now standard Covid-19 precautions are in place and work as well as possible given the design of facilities and varying attitudes of some users. We had a variety of neighbours over the period and all were quite fine. Their dogs were well-behaved (unlike some mentioned in other reviews and elsewhere on the site during our stay). I do recognise the frustrations with younger children 'running wild' all round the site and, especially, on the roadways used by them for races as observed by ourselves and others here. Certainly an area for attention by negligent parents as well as the Club. Hopefully, the inevitable accidents will be attributed to poor parental supervision rather than seeking to blame either the driver involved or the wardens. In summary: a good and well-managed base for exploring the area. Best visited, perhaps, outside of the school holidays for enhanced relaxation on pitches!

Very nice for a shorty break

We here for a 3 night mid week break, only our 2nd in the Covid era, we were not really sure what to expect, but what a treat it was. Near a busy road but traffic noise was not an issue, just be careful of traffic when exiting the site. A short walk (5 mins) to Ludham Bridge and the broads with boats to watch, made a very nice evening stroll. We cycled to Horning but the first mile or so was on the road, not ideal, but Horning is very nice, lots of boating to watch. Wrexham was possibly a tad too far to cycle so we drove the MoHo but parking is limited. Busy town with lots of shops. We also drove to Potter Heigham, but didn’t stay. Lovely site in a lovely area, lots to do if you are adventuress.

CYCLE RACETRACK

Very disappointed with our stay, the layout lent itself to it being used as a cycle race track by unsupervised children. Felt very uncomfortable, just waiting for someone to come cannoning into our van - or worse get hit by a car (we were only there for 2 nights in bad weather and saw one very very near miss with a car and a child on a bike - it made us wince, and the car was not at all to blame). Loud site at times - we were lucky weather was bad or it could have been a whole lot worse. Dogs mess abounds at back of van where hook-up cables go. Not a site for relaxing on, or up to usual club standards / rules

Nice site but...

As other reviewers have said, the site is immaculate, pitches are a good size, location is good and Ludham is lovely. However, I have marked down the peace and quiet rating because some dog owners are simply not in control of their dogs, regardless of whether they are on the leash. Three pitches near us had dogs who barked every single time another dog went past and one it seems, when anything, car, bike or pedestrian went by. How can it be acceptable to make your neighbours endure this? I do not know if the wardens expected to police this? I think it should be clearly stated that owners must ensure their dogs are properly trained before bringing them on site or in the event of this level of nuisance, should be asked to leave. We used our own facilities on board so cannot comment on showers etc. We would definitely go back but hopefully at a 'quieter' time!

Lovely Ludham

This is our second visit here and we will be back again. Considering it was August it was reasonably quiet in the evenings. Walked along the river to How Hill (about 45 minutes) but unfortunately tea shop was closed though gardens and secret gardens were lovely. Also walked along the other way along the river to the Abbey ruins which was a circular walk back to the site. Visited the little fruit & veg hut just up the road too near the pub for some good priced fresh veg.

Immaculately maintained site and great location

A gem of a site just a short walk from Ludham Bridge. Site wardens were lovely and clearly work very hard to keep the site in immaculate condition. Most of the site is very open plan and our first night was a little tense with lots of kids tearing around on bikes and scooters between and around vans, but I guess you should expect that in August. Moved to a quiter pitch nearer the site entrance on day 2. There are a number of pleasant walks and cycle rides from the campsite alongside the waterways and through woods and fields. Highly recommend a trip to How Hill, just a couple if miles by car. Free parking in a very large grass car park with plenty of space for games and picnic and lovely views over the fens. Walk round the formal and secret gardens (donations) and a nature trail (entrance fee). A great and cheap day out on a sunny day. All in all an excellent site and will definitely return.

Gem on the Broads

This is one of our favourite sites. So well placed for lovely walks round the broads. Pub within a few minutes walk which is dog friendly and sells good food, a lovely cafe for breakfast & lunch plus a little convenience shop to top up on provisions. everything we want when we are enjoying our break. The onsite staff are very friendly & helpful and ensure you have the best stay possible. If you're looking for a walking / wildlife break I highly recommend you book this site. Another good point is the access from the A149 is good from whichever direction you come, our caravan is extra wide but the roads are a good size.

Good location & beautifully maintained but unimaginative layout

What we liked: a) good location at centre of Norfolk Broads; b) ability to go on walks and cycling along rivers and to ruined abbey direct from campsite c) site very well maintained and spotlessly clean d) social distancing well managed Room for Improvement: a) design layout of site is without any imagination - just like a green car park; pitch sizes are fine, but there are no trees or hedges - all the pitches are pretty much the same with no variety and no privacy - it did not spoil our enjoyment, but you will definitely not remember this site for it being different or special; (Unfortunately often the case with the Caravan Club - I guess due to origins and history of the Club - you have to go to small privately owned sites to find something really different/ creative/ special in terms of design and layout. The Club wins back points on uniformity and consistency and quality... but that's a debate for another day...) b) this site attracts dog owners/ lovers, not all well behaved, and producing a lot of extra noise (barking, yapping, etc. especially in mornings and evenings - definitely detracts from the peacefulness of the site. Overall very satisfied, would definitely stay here again

Great Location

3rd time at this site and still love it! The staff are always smiling and work hard to keep the grounds looking immaculate. Great location for tourist attractions, hire a boat it’s a great day out, Ludham bridge is a short walk away with a cafe for takeaway or eating in. The butchers in Ludham village is great and reasonably priced. We’ll be back again I’m sure!
