Disappointing

This campsite is a large, insecure and open commercial site with an area set aside for C&MC members. The prospect of the view is what initially attracted us but the site is bland and the view of sea and a distant island (Mull) soon is not enough. The bus service to Oban, with a stop outside the site is very good. We were disappointed to find the electrical supply is only 10 amps and that it cannot be re-set without the attendance of the warden between the hours of 8am to 8pm. Outside these hours you would go without. One therefore is always concerned about power usage which does not go with a relaxing stay. They also only take cash or Debit card payment. Neither of these issues are mentioned in their write ups, anywhere and we first learned about them when booking in on site. Given the tariffs I feel this site is poor value for money despite the location.

I have stayed here twice and a 10amp supply has never been a problem on any site. They are unable to increase the amperage presently due to local electricity supplies I believe.

10a is plenty. We’ve been staying at this site regularly since 1992 and never once tripped the electric.

I wonder how the reviewer paid the £10 deposit without realising payment is by debit card, cash or cheque? I’m sure it’s mentioned on their website.

If one were to just turn up at their door unbooked there would be no deposit.

We had a look when going past a couple of years ago but the scrap vehicles beside the entrance put us off.

I don’t understand the ‘bland’ comment either. It’s natural coastal terrain with HS added, a beach and views across the bay. True, the Blackpool type fun rides are missing - perhaps that’s what the reviewer wants.

I have to say that the area around the owners’ house has become a bit neglected over the years with a couple of old vehicles dumped but that’s the house, not the site.
