Good for families

Good location but not the usual club site feel

16th - 23rd August 2020 A family of four we visited this site on our first trip to Anglesey following an 8 nights stay at Coed-Y-Llwyn site, Snowdonia the previous week. We found the site relatively easy using the clubs route planner and arrived on the second day the site was open for the season following redevelopment of the shower block. Upon booking in I was advised by the warden that they were asking everyone to wear face masks on site, though we did not see a single person wearing one the whole week. I was advised that there were a few pitches available but the ones behind the reception which looked in a nice, flat secluded area would best suit people who do not have children as most people without children go there. We ended up on a pitch at the highest area of the site backing onto a field from the site next door. The roads around the site were very narrow so opposite pitches were closer than normal making reversing onto the pitch difficult, the pitch was a hardstanding but the gravel was quite raised up from the road luckily we have a motor mover so we could un-hitch steer into position in that way as we could not have pushed the caravan up the steep gravel. The grass around all pitches and the whole site in general was really long and looked very untidy, which looked bad as this was only the second day of the season for the site. The only area that seemed to get mowed was the dog walk area. During the week storm Ellen hit and the area we were in was battered by the winds, a pitch opposite us lost its entire awning which was destroyed in the middle of the night and we had to stay in for most of one day to protect ours so I would highly recommend avoiding that area. The site would benefit with some taller bushes around that perimeter to provide some protection the same as it has around the lower areas. The last 2 days were very noisy with a group in the field of the site behind us being literally feet away. There was no hand sanitiser at the service points and no bins, all rubbish had to be taken down to industrial bins close to the entrance of the site. The wardens were rarely seen anywhere on site the whole week we were there, the only contact we had with any of them was when we returned to site one afternoon and had to queue behind two new arrivals at the site entrance and were pointed at to move out of the way by a warden on the mower who wanted to pass us but returned no thankyou or acknowledgement for us moving. After 4 years as club members this felt least like we were on a club site by a long way. We enjoyed Anglesey and would like to go back but would chose either the other club site on the island or possibly one of the many CL's to stay at.

Hi,

I may be wrong but I think you might be the lady who tried to sort out the problem as we arrived on the 22nd. If you read my review you might be interested in what happened moments later. We were behind your vehicle and two other vehicles and caravans were in front. I think you had two small children with you.

I totally agree with your comments in your review. So pleased you felt the same ‘vibes’. It’s just not the place it was....new toilet block or not!

The top pitches look exposed to say the least. Not enough sanitizers, etc.

We shall likely go elsewhere next time.
