A friendly face is worth a fortune

Stayed here one night last week off the St Malo ferry. Site was heaving (!!) when we got there but were checked in very efficiently. Should have got his name and didn't but the younger male warden we spoke to was excellent - a lesson in how to do that job. Friendly, chatty, calm, but not OTT! Problem with EHU was also fixed within a few minutes. Negatives: None - there was some noise on site but I cannot see how you get round that when it is so full and you have a lot of children on site, it was a little daunting being sent to find your own pitch when the site was so full but minor issues and would without question go back.

Long Weekend/ wedding

Great site, Wardens very helpfull and good knowlege of surrounding area. we travelled to Wickham for a wedding and an extended week end, when we arrived we where a little overwhelmed over the size of the site, we found a lovely spot and set up. It was so quite and peacefull. Enjoyed our short stay and will be back again.

Overnight stay

Just 1 night stay on the way to I O W. A very clean and well run site. Ideal for catching the ferry with some pitches allocated for ferry members. about 30 minutes away from Southampton. Very helpful and pleasant wardens.

Rookesbury Park

We arrived at approximately 6.45 in the evening, having come off the ferry.  The wardens were just finishing but could not have been more helpful.  They took time to ensure we had a suitable pitch and knew where all the facilities were.  This is the second year we have stayed at Rookesbury Park, last year we arrived at 10.30 at night in the middle of a deluge.  The wardens were fantastic on that occasion, this being the reason we were looking forward to returning.

Locked in at night now?

We regularly stay at the site but this time we were surprised the learn on our arrival that you cannot exit the site between 11pm and 7am. I am aware that the CCC has such rules but I have always thought the clubs greater flexibility to be one of its advantages. You need to be aware of this if you want an early start to reach a not so local attraction.

Disappointed wardens not helpful.

After reading the reviews we decided to visit the site, we learnt that the wardens had changed since last year. Very unhelpful to the point of rudeness. We asked if we could save the pitch near us for my daughter arriving that day. They say No and said if we put anything on the pitch they would remove it. My daughter has a 20 month old toddler and is new to caravanning so our help is invaluable to her. I then found out that 3 different people had saved pitches for their friends with the knowledge of the wardens. I couldn't believe this plus how rude they were to us. Don't pitch up near the play area especially at the weekend there are children running riot all around. Also noticed caravans parked the "wrong " way round on the pitch nothing said to them by the wardens..... Wifi didn't work most of the time and mobile reception poor. I wouldn't like to be in the site during school holidays. As a result of the wardens attitude we do not think we will renew our membership. I agreed with rules but when I hear that 3 other members saved pitches with the wardens knowledge and we were told it was against the rules.... What more can I say. My daughter also felt it ruined her break away as they were rude to her. it.

Another great break

Have had several good holidays at Rooksbury over the past 20 odd years, first with our daughters and now in our retirement. Have always found the site wardens very friendly and the amenities spotless. Will definitely be back again.

Perfect, just perfect

I will start by disagreeing completely with the last review. We stayed on this site at the same time in mid July. When we arrived the girls in reception could not have been more friendly or helpful and were the same every morning collecting my paper or when you saw them around the site. It was the same with male wardens, always happy, friendly and willing for a chat. We think the site has a great team. The site is situated at the bottom of a winding road through the forest, which opens up into a wonderful mainly level open site. Key fob entrance adds to security. All the facilities are kept extreemly clean and tidy. We moved on from a 4 star non club site to Rookesbury park and It shows immediately just how good the club sites are, try it sometime. The site is only some 5 miles from the M27 so easy access all along the south coast. We will definately return. Thanks to the warden team.

Rude staff ruined our stay

Our reception was greeted with an in depth interrogation by a rude and unhelpful woman who was intrusive and nosy, whilst she was speaking to my husband in reception she sent out her colleague (who was equally as scruffy) to demand to look through our camper van, i felt very uncomfortable as she demanded to know if we had various item (sink, cutlery etc) she even wanted to know how we went to bed (did i have to squeeze over my husband!). When my husband went to complain later on, he was told that we should expect this as they 'Had standards to keep up to', she offered no apology what so ever and insisted that was her right to ask as many questions as she liked to maintain the Caravan clubs high standards. We left after one night, went home and have cancelled our membership, no one would talk to us at the East Grinstead main office about our complaint, so we can only conclude that as a club you condone humiliating your members

Lovely site. Shame about some of the wardens

Lovely site with great children and dog facilities. My concerns were as such: 1. The female warden with dark hair needs to learn some customer service skills. Upon arrival she was short and rude about trying to get on site without our outfit (we arrived with a car and motorhome separately - only by approx 30 mins). 2. We noticed the wardens regularly saving spaces near the entrance for various motorhomes and caravans despite being told, quite firmly, that this was against all rules and regulations (we travelled in a party of two outfits and would have found life much easier, for various reasons, to be situated next to each other).   3. The floor of the baby and toddler room wasn't particularly clean. When we mopped it out, it clearly had not been cleaned for some time.  4. There was an area of timber boarding behind our outfit which provided access to the children's play area. There was hole within the boarding. As the wardens accessed this area with mowers/ small tractors each day, this should have been picked up as a health and safety concern.   All in all, this was a nice site but the wardens (one in particular) really ruined our experience. I think the wardens need to learn some basic customer services skills.
