Immaculate site with great facilities

We stayed for 4 nights, 17th to 21st April. The site was quiet and there were lots of pitches to choose from. We stayed on the middle part of the site and enjoyed lots of space around us, surrounded by grass and greenery. The refurbished toilet block is lovely and the new arrangement for cleaning means that there are always showers and toilets available. The site has a great dog walking field and play area for children. West Ayton village is a short walk away with a great pub and spar shop not too far. The site is kept immaculately, it feels open and green with trees and surrounded by fields yet not far from village amenities. The wardens are friendly and this is one of our favourite sites, we’ve always had lovely stays here and it’s located from some stunning coastal towns and villages. We will continue to return to this site, it is truly lovely.

Immaculate site

Our first time at West Ayton . We stayed here for a week from the first day of opening for the 2023 season. The access to the site is good. The site itself is refurbished to a high standard and although in a rural position it is manicured to perfection. The staff are really friendly and Steve in particular was extremely helpful. The pitches are a good size ( you need levelling blocks for a handful of them. The dog walking area is great and the field is a good size. The showers and toilet facilities are the best i have seen and due to a unique design layout are never closed during cleaning. West Ayton is only a 10 - 15 minute walk away and has good dog friendly gastro pubs, a top notch fish restaurant, a chippy and a brilliant Spar supermarket and petrol station. This SPAR shop is one on its own. It sells locally produced meat, fresh bakery bread and pastries, hot breakfast sandwiches and hot rotisserie chickens aswell as the usual groceries and provisions. You even buy your beers and lagers from a walk in fridge cold-room. Perfect. We will definitely be back to this site and will book a premium pitch next time.

Lovely site and friendly staff but……..

We have just returned from a 5 night stay and overall we had a great stay and we were very impressed by the site, it’s a credit to the team. Great facilities that are immaculately maintained and presented by the team. We booked a premium pitch and these are really spacious and located in two areas, four pitches in a quiet corner and seven on the edge of the childrens play park. Although the site was almost empty as it was coming to the end of the season the premium pitches in the quiet area were all taken when we arrived so we set up adjacent to the play area. I’m sure these pitches would be great for those with children but I would not recommend them for couples hoping for a peaceful stay as the tarmac multi-sport court (basketball, football, cricket etc) is really close to the pitches and bouncing balls/excited children can be challenging. It’s important to say we realise children need somewhere to play and we wouldn’t want to spoil their fun; it’s just that we wouldn’t normally pitch anywhere near a play park but we had no choice on this occasion due to the type of pitch we had booked. The play area is really large and I believe the multi-sport court was a new addition during the recent refurbishment and I think the planner’s should have put it further into the field to reduce the potential impact on those using the most expensive pitches on the site. The pitches on this site are very well laid out and although it’s a large site the natural partitions, trees, hedges etc make it seem much smaller and pleasant. We would definitely visit this site again and would recommend it to others but we would not book a premium pitch again.

Great site spoil by a few things

We booked at premium pitch for 4 nights. On arrival we were told that there were no picnic tables on the premium pitch, not really an issue. The premium pitches are really big. The warden had an issue with our small pup tent tent behind the caravan, she demanded it had to be moved...nearly 7PM, in the dark... The site was almost empty too. Our pitch faced the new play areas. The play area is great however a bunch of bigger kids were playing football, swearing and shouting most of the time. A couple of time their ball went under the caravan. The new toilet blocks are very nice and split into 2 so they can close one half for cleaning whilst still keeping one side open. Nice site, shame about some of the staff.

Great but the map is not …..

Great to return to this fantastic refurbished site and be welcomed by a warm engaging team who clearly relish their role and engaging with and helping all who visit. We certainly appreciated the planning and investment involved in enhancing the site facilities yet need to remind the “thinkers” that the map is not the territory as more than a few pitches weren’t the most practically marked out. Clearly it must have made sense on the plan but sadly not on the ground. This is the first site we’ve visited with two marker pegs on the pitch - great idea - however, anyone siting to the left peg on say on pitch 113 can’t connect to the water etc and then park the car without damaging the new turf so we needed to park in front of our van to avoid pitch damage. As more and more vans are wider and more sites are being re-designed this minor yet important issue needs resolving. To end on a high - we can’t wait to return - thx again to all of the on- site team.

Perfection

What an absolutely stunning campsite this is. The showers are immaculate and the pitches are very spacious. Lovely tranquil and peaceful setting perfect for relaxation. The staff are constantly on the go around the site and are all very pleasant and friendly. The village has 2 definitely and possibly 3 public houses all serving well cooked food and all dog friendly. The only snag is the quite steep hill climb back to base camp, not sure on availability of local taxis but would be worth the fare after a few sherries. First visit but definitely not the last.

Back to our favourite Club site

It was a welcome return to our regular site following a thorough site revamp. The new shower blocks are superb, both in terms of quality and ease of use. The site has lost none of it's charm, and is even more family friendly for 2023. The site had only re-opened one day before our weekend break, and is still getting back to full operating standard. We will be returning before the season ends.

Back again

Love this site. Plenty of coastal towns to visit. The site is well kept & easy to get to. The facilities are being renewed this October so should be even better.

Excellent site

We have just had a 2 week stay at this site. Our second visit. This is a well looked after site by hard working friendly staff and worthy of a 5 star rating for the effort that the staff put in. Will definitely be going back after refurbishment. 10/10 to the staff.

Don't hesitate

Our favourite site, it's closing for refurb (I can't see how it will get better ) and we are impatient to book for next season. We are lucky to live within 90 mins drive of this site, but if we lived hours away we would still visit. The team are brilliant and the site is awesome 🙂
