Nice site

Nice site, but toilets blocks are quite run down. Disappointed that the shower block had no seating for changing. Quite stressful Wardens were very friendly but was disappointed that staff and campers tended not to use paths but to walk through the pitch hence felt a privacy was quite invaded. Especially end pitches. Do think it should be emphasised that the grass on the side of pitch should be given more privacy, as the paths are well designed for walking on . Loved my stay , and lovely setting ….

Lovely site!

Delightful site, very peaceful and quiet, and the staff were all super pleasant and friendly. Lovely clean facilities, nice powerful showers. Good central base four exploring the coastline and other delights that this area has to offer. Handy well-stocked Spar ten minutes walk away. The only disappointment we had was that we didn't get to sample the fish and chips from the visiting on-site takeaway van on a Friday night because we only stayed Monday and Tuesday! We will definitely book this site again.

Esme99 Tours

What a lovely site in a really nice location within easy reach of public transport and lots of great walks, particularly Forge Valley Woods. The staff are really welcoming and helpful. They were extemely busy during our stay, which is highlighted by the excellent condition of the site, but still had time for a chat and help. Site is really quiet with plenty of facilities to suit all including dogs. If there is negative it was against the club members who obviously think COVID hasn't happened and site signage is for everybody but them. Toilet and shower facilities although clean tidy and functional are looking tired. Definitely will go again and would highly recommend to those that haven't been to this site.

Excellent all round

Excellent all round. Good location but easy access to amenities. The staff are very friendly and helpful. A large site but very well planned and well managed. Well done to all of the staff.

Nice Site but beware of the challenges of getting there!

This is the second time we've visited the site over the years and it remains one that we like. It's well located to access the North Yorkshire Moors and Scarborough easily. There are some nice walks directly from the site which we found by chatting to people. The dog exercise area is extensive and gives you an opportunity for some off lead fun and sniffing. The Children's play areas look good but we've long past that stage! COVID still seems to result in some odd decisions on what to open and close in the toilet blocks and information kiosk. We couldn't work out why one of the clothes washing areas was closed due to COVID. As we've done on other sites we didn't use the toilet blocks a lot but they looked clean if a little dated. The only major down side is getting to the site. The A64 reminds me of journeys to Cornwall pre M5 and you need to be prepared to queue intermittently for the whole journey from York. The journey up on a Sunday was difficult but the return journey was dreadful. The site needs a far bigger late night arrivals area based on this experience!

Excellent -holiday 11.06.21 to 18.06.21

What a great stay we have just had at this fantastic site . the staff could were extremely welcoming and all through the holiday were very friendly and kept all the amenities in excellent working order and very clean the pitches are all of a good size and easy to navigate into ( and only broke 2 rock pegs when putting up the awning on the hard standing pitch ) the local area is beautiful and the local pub Forge Valley ( a short 10 minute walk downhill going but a 30 minute stagger back uphill ) serves great food and at reasonable prices.

Wonderful spacious and welcoming site

Our first visit here in mid-May 2021. Stayed for a week. Enjoyed it SO much despite the heavens opening on more than one occasion. Wardens were exactly as you'd hope; efficient, friendly, welcoming, helpful and fun. Our pitch was clean, level and spacious. The facilities (loos just open as we arrived, showers re-opened a few days after we arrive) were immaculate and kept that way because of extra cleaning required to meet Covid regulations. A rural site with birdsong to die for! We will definitely be going back to this site in the future. Just our cup of tea!

Great Stay, Great Wardens, Perfectly safe.

We stayed here for 15 nights recently. Everyone on the warden team was superb - helpful, friendly and hard working but always finding time to say hello or deal with any queries. This was the first time away in our new caravan following the easing of lockdown and we felt perfectly safe. We used our own bathroom facilities during the stay but did venture out to the communal washing up facilities (wearing our masks) to do the washing up and clean our Cadac. Other members who we encountered there also wore their masks so we felt perfectly safe. There were lots of hand sanitisers around the facility block and they were always full so there was never a problem about taking stuff to the bins, emptying waste water, visiting the elsan disposal point or replenshing our aquaroll. It was just great to be back on a club site watching members going about their daily lives and chatting with a few about our shared lockdown experiences. We hadn't visited this site before but found lots of places to visit - Scarborough, Whitby, Robin Hood's Bay, Pickering, Malton and further afield, Staithes and Saltburn. We can recommend them all. The regular evening drive down to Scarborough to park up overlooking the sea (and occasionally sharing a bag of chips) was a real treat. To present a balanced review, I'd have to express concern about the fact that some members showed scant regard for the 5mph speed limit whilst on the site. Too often, the biggest culprits were those arriving for the first time and towing their caravan. It was as if they were terrified that somebody might beat them to their preferred pitch. Fortunately, there were no children on the site but there really is no excuse to drive so fast. I'd also say that we would choose a different pitch next time. We chose one at the head of an enclosed area for several units. This meant that those members walking out to exercise their dogs often stopped at the grass by the side of our caravan to allow their dogs to urinate before proceeding on their way. One morning, we found dog faeces had been left on the same grass area - so much easier to let your dog exercise late at night when nobody can see that you have no intention of cleaning up after your pet. Having to clear up the mess left by somebody else's dog when you choose not to own one yourself, is just stomach churning. Vile! That aside, we had a lovely time and would have no hesitation in visiting this site again - if we can get a booking!

Needs Refurbishment on toilet blocks.

The site and staff are good, but , the toilet block ( at the top ) definitely is in need of total refurbishment, I`m surprised that it hasn`t been done during ` lockdown`. The showers that we could use were old, worn and there was no bench on which to place your toiletries or foot when drying yourself. The washbasin cubicles were far too small ( you had to stand outside with the curtain open ) to shave and dry off. It`s no fault of the site, but , the farm next to the site uses sound devices to scare the birds from the crops and it sounded like a very loud shotgun going off about twice per hour. I have used this site a few times but next time may look at Bridlington.

Lovely site, well maintained with friendly staff

Nice welcome on arrival and a really pretty and quiet site surrounded by trees. Peaceful particularly at night. Facilities well kept and clean. Staff really helpful during our stay. Good Covid arrangements in place. The only disappointment was other club members behavior towards the Covid protection requirements - some simply ignoring the mask wearing requirement in shared covered spaces, even when reminded some still ignored them. A shame that the club has members who act like this!!
