Fantastic site!

Beautifully clean site and facilities. Friendly site managers and very resourceful. Great information hub which covered everything from walking routes, eating places, supermarkets, things to do and recommended services. Very quiet making for a relaxing stay. Large, well maintained pitches.

Pleasant and Quiet

The wardens go above and beyond to ensure your stay is as comfortable and easy as it can be. A perfect site for access to the coast or inland. We had three nights, and it was so relaxing and restorative. If you like peace and quiet, this site gives it to you. Thank you.

Well run site great wardens

We just had a nice stay at Shawsmead . We have stayed a few times before and find the site to be clean and tidy . The wardens are very helpful , polite and work hard to make your stay an enjoyable one. The site is in the perfect place for easy access to the coastline with so many things to do . Though we don’t have a dog here is a dog walk though small , “is ideal for dog business”, We had a lovely meal at the Llainina Arms just 10 minutes away, we really enjoyed it .

Fantastic caring staff

During our stay with our caravan in June, my husband became very unwell with an infection. The two relief staff members Fiona and Martin, were very kind and helpful to us. Martin helped with us having to leave the caravan behind on site until it could be delivered back to our home by green flag mayday (not so good on service, no communication leading to extra stress). Fantastic clean facilities, and extremely hot water for washing up. Many thanks again to Fiona and Martin for all your help.

Lovely Quiet Site

Spent two nights here in June 2023. It is a well kept site and easy to find. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The pitches are well positioned and you have different options - shade, sunny etc. Facilities very clean and well maintained. The only improvement would be a food van or shop as there isn't much around locally to do. We are in a motorhome so we would have to take the van out if we wanted to find somewhere to eat so something onsite or that came to the site would be welcomed. We had two dogs and walked them mainly around the site as the site is surrounded by country roads with no footpath so have to take care. That said, if you turn right and walk less than 5 mins up the lane, you can follow a public bridleway for a nice walk.

A warm and sheltered haven close to a beautiful coastline

A very quiet and sheltered campsite away from the coastal winds, The site is so well kept and Jo and keith are so friendly and helpful. The best wardens I’ve ever met as they seem to spend all day making sure everyone is happy. They have built a dog walk on site now too. Just a 10 minute drive to Aberaeron which is a lovely little harbour town full of places to eat. The coastline and towns and villages are a stunning discovery in this part of beautiful wales. Well worth a visit.

Quite extremely well kept site

Pretty site in a rural location close to New Quey. Transport is an absolute requirement so be prepared to drive your motorhime unless you have a car. The site does not have any fecillities for dog walking, you need to drive to the local walks. Similarly if you want to eat out you will have to be prepared to drive. Spotless well maintained shower/toilet block. Same can be said for the grounds and pitches. If you want peace and quite this is the place. No facillities for children i.e. play areas etc

Peaceful, tranquil and relaxing

A warm welcome will be given for anyone visiting Shawmeads. We were greeted on arrival, had our pitch explained to us and a map of the site provided. Although this is not unusual the friendliness of the staff was very much appreciated. We had a choice of two hard standing pitches, and both of which were in great locations. Close to the facilities and service points. As with other reviews, it is essential to have some form of transport as the site is down country lanes. Aberaeron is the closest town, a small harbour, Chinese, chippy and pizza restaurant. There are also a couple of pubs. It’s very colourful and friendly and well worth a visit if only to taste the Hive ice cream and sit and watch to world go by. If you fancy going on a boat trip, pay Dolphin Spotting Boat Trips a visit in New Quay. Jonathan Evans and his team are friendly, helpful and very informative. As a wheelchair user they accommodated me and my two cats onboard and ensured we had a great time. The slipway is very steep, but no steps and plenty if help available, you only need to ask. Unfortunately the wet fish shop was closed when we were visiting, and therefore I didn’t get my crab sandwiches, but the chippy, pasty shop all open and serving great options. There is some beautiful scenery, waterfalls and lovely places to visit locally. Well worth a visit, and can’t wait to return later in the year.

If it's peace & tranquillity you seek - you've found it

If it's peace and tranquillity in a rural setting you seek; look no further than Shawsmead. A lovely site, pitches could be wider and there can be a bit of jiggling getting into some of those in the corners. But all in all, there's plenty of room. It's well laid out and immaculate. Spotless shower block, absolute pleasure to shower in there. The roads are typical rural Wales narrow, winding lanes so take the CAMC directions advise with the roads to take. With nearby seaside villages like New Quay (try the Lime Crab chippy) and Aberaeron (likewise the New Celtic chippy) you'll have lots to see and do. The beaches on the West Coast of Wales rival anywhere in the UK. We had our dogs with us, the lanes are narrow so be mindful. Apparently they're in the process of fencing off a dog walk area on site which will be a bonus. You'll need transport - don't rely on public transport, it doesn't exist and there's no way you'll walk to anything like a shop, pub etc - it's all reliant on you having a car. It's set in a beautiful part of the world, it's peaceful and well kept. Yes we'd visit again if that's what we were looking for.

Need a car

I would like to start by saying that the site staff were lovely and the site itself is nice. I think though that if you are travelling in a Motorhome and don’t have a car with you maybe think again. There is nothing around the site and it is surrounded by fast country roads. Aberaeron is the nearest town and has parking suitable for motorhomes. Aberystwyth not so much. We went to Shawsmead for a relaxing break and we got that as we didn’t go off the site, but for us this time, that was perfect. I don’t think it is somewhere I would return to though as it is very isolated.
