Lovely, peaceful site, well placed for exploring the area

This was our first visit to a Caravan and Motorhome site and we were not disappointed. The site was easy to find and very well placed for exploring this beautiful area of mid Wales. It was well maintained by the friendly temporary wardens and we appreciated the availability of sanitiser at each service point. We loved the peace and quiet at Shawsmead. We came to the area to walk the coastal path and found more than enough walks to keep us happy for our 10 day stay. It is a short drive to the coastal resorts of Aberaeron and New Quay, both offering a variety of eateries. We would highly recommend fish and chips at the Lime Crab on the harbour at New Quay, followed by Dolphin watching from the quay - we saw plenty! Keen walkers will love the glorious stretch of coast between Llangranog and Ynys Lochtyn, a small peninsula with wonderful views of the coast in both directions. We also visited the Teifi wildlife centre near Cardigan, where there are waymarked walks for all abilities and the National Trust property Llanerchaeron is a couple of miles away and offers a variety of woodland walks. We look forward to returning to this lovely little site.

Happy short stay

We felt very welcomed and 'at home' on this site. despite having no face to face contact with the office staff. The lady we spoke with each time on the phone was very warm and efficient! Obviously certain facility cannot be open at this time - so rating them is not possible.

Very disapointing

Booked this site quite some weeks ago, upon arrival, was met by two rather abrupt staff members, and pointed in the direction of an envelope with my name on, and told to phone them, either before 13.00 or after 14.00 to make a payment Pitched up and phoned 3 times before 13.00 with the phone going to answer phone. Found that the toilet block was shut, seemingly permanently. Checked my booking confirmation, and found no mention of this. Went to reception after 14.00 to make a payment, and explained that I had phoned, but no answer. To be told that they were at lunch, or too busy to answer the phone. When i asked about the toilet situation I was told that it was in the Email, still cant find that. I enquired as to the problem, and was told the boiler was faulty, and would not be repaired this year. I found that rather odd, as I run a heating/ plumbing company, and could repair, or replace said boiler within 2 working days on average. All in all very poor service and staff attitude, seems the CAMC want to close it down

Nice little site

A good old fashioned caravan club site m small and quiet , no tents , no pods , no glamping. Exactly what caravaning is for. Nice friendly wardens with no stupid red tape where common sense takes president clean and tidy what more do you want. We only gave 1 star for families as there are no children’s facilities here

Great site with very nice wardens

We stayed here for 10 days while visiting relatives in New Quay. It's a great site, lots of peace and quiet with long walks. A car essential though to get to amenities and shops. The wardens were also fantastic and very accommodating

Amazing!

Arrived at site on 12th August for 6 nights, very helpful and pleasant wardens advising us of best pitch, quiet site and very well looked after. No children tearing round on bikes or scooters (an absolute bonus). No dog walked as advertised but plenty of lanes to walk dogs anyway. Would certainly recommend if you are looking for peace and quiet and not too big a site although might be better keeping it a secret...

Great little site

Stayed here August 2019. This was our third visit. Quiet site if you discount the occasional bellowing of the bull in the next field. Situated down a leafy lane in a convenient location for access by car to the many beaches in this area. There is no dog walk and no children's play area so I marked it as not being good for families on that basis. The wardens were nice people and kept the place smart.

Best CMC site we've stayed at

Fabulous little site, very neat and well kept with complimentary herbs at the entrance and flowers planted to encourage wildlife. Very friendly, knowledgable staff, both the warden and the assistant warden, who offered help and advice throughout our stay. Facilities immaculate and well maintained. This site offers everything that is brilliant about being at a cmc site. We were in a largish motorhome and found the water point really easy to access, with a very convenient platform, off the road, to park on when filling up with water, we"re usually so aware that we're hogging the water point or blocking the road when filling up but not on this site. 10 out of 10, would definitely come again

Lovely site

We stayed for two nights & enjoyed every minute. A lovely little site, not too crowded. The amenity block was like a log cabin. I was able to use the laundrette as it wasn’t too busy. The Motorhome service point was in a good location being set off the main thoroughfare & it was spacious. We cycled to Aberaeron, partly on the road & partly on a cycle path & on the way back we stopped at Llanerchacron House, a National Trust Property. We had to push the bikes back up the hill to the site but it wasn’t too bad. Would definitely go back.

Worst CAMC site we have stayed at.

Sadly this is the worst CAMC campsite we have ever stayed at. The only good thing we found about it was it was quiet but that is really because it is so remote. 1. The place looks unkempt, with the exception of the reception which had the usual pots etc. They say it's to encourage the wildlife but it still makes the place look unloved. There is no need to encourage bugs and wildlife on site as the site is in the countryside surrounded by farmers fields etc. 2. It is supposed to be dog friendly. Other than a bowl of water at the reception it is not. There is no dog walk area on site and definitely NOT off site without navigating the local narrow roads and even then there are no fields or country footpaths to walk. 3. The warden was away when we were there and so the place was being run by the assistant warden. No information was forthcoming and delighted in people making a mistake and then coming over to tell them to sort it. We pitched our awning and were then told to move it (having stood and watch us position it). His manner was very rude and confrontational (comments like "well you chose the site and I'm not picking on you BUT"). We spoke to others on site who had experienced the same from him. Not a good advert for the CAMC and heaven help if and when he gets his own site. 4. Don't take children there. The only patch of grass there were signs saying No Ball Games, which was understandable as the closeness of some of the pitches. It is not child friendly, no play area, cannot ride bikes off site as it's too dangerous. 5. The motorhome service point is on the map that you are give but is not clearly marked so it is very easy to miss it and for some strange reason is on the way out so on arrival if you need water you have to go around the site twice as there is no motorhome water point on the way in. Heaven help you if you stop at a water point on the way in and the assistant warden catches you, despite nothing being behind you or being advised where the motorhome service point is. We are experienced motorhomers and have travelled extensively, staying at many CAMC sites but this is not a good advert for a CAMC site.

Comment from the Club:

Many thanks for your review. We were sorry to read about your concerns, and would like to address them in the following response.

We regret to hear you felt the aesthetics of the site were not up to standard. We would like to reaffirm that although feedback regarding the site biodiversity areas can occasionally reflect its less common nature, the sentiment behind is one of genuine care for the surrounding wildlife. We apologise if it was not what you were expecting and please note for future reference that a member of the site team is always happy to discuss such things with guests should they so desire. Please note that neither dog-walking or a children's play area is something this particular site advertises. As you might imagine, some sites are more catered towards certain guests needs than others. Again, we are sorry you felt the site amenities were not suitable for your needs, but we would like to assure you the site often receives very positive feedback regarding the good location of the MSVP.

With regards to the feedback about our staff on site please be assured our Site Staff always do their utmost to ensure members have a wonderful time whilst staying on site. Our Site Staff are the face of the Club and providing excellent customer service is something that we always strive for. We always welcome the opportunity to formally review any disappointing experience and we would ask that members send this in writing to us. Further details of our feedback, complaint and compliments procedure can be found on our website here: https://www.caravanclub.co.uk/contact/compliments-and-complaints/
