Lovely quiet site in perfect location

Easy to get to from home or work. Quiet & relaxing with friendly site managers. Amazing village pub within walking distance. Right on the downs link so can walk to Guildford or Shoreham.

Geocaching trip

Had a very good stay on this site wish the C&MC had loads more like this as many sites are now over charging especially in high season. The wardens here at Slinfold were top notch. On checking in and being shown our pitch by Nick the warden he told us about the locals putting on a film show down in the village and we were glad he told us as the night was fantastic and wine at just £2 a glass plus a very good film whats not to like. We came here to ride the trail and look for Geocaches as the Down Link trail has lots of them along its route. The track in parts is not great but we managed taking time in the more tricky parts.Had a problem with one bike that with the wardens advice used the local guy to get a very quick repair that kept us on the road. Bus service is very good as both ways picks up at the end of the lane to the site. Went to Guilford & Horsham on the bus using our bus passes . If somebody puts more Geocaches into play we would come back no problem. Had a noise problem with the factory starting work early so moved pitches . Do like the sites without toilet blocks lets face it we all have our own facilities that we have had to use since covid and in fact the club asks you to use your own so why not make more sites like this ?.

Hidden gem

We booked this campsite because it is right on the Downs Link cycle path and, even better, is more or less half way along it, making a return journey south one day and a return journey north on another day very doable. It is a lovely path and goes through some delightful places and I would recommend a detour to Steyning (quiet road, lovely tea rooms) and Horsham (a bridleway from the Downs Link takes you to Broadbridge Heath and from there quiet roads and paths to Horsham.) My only word of caution is that the path is very bumpy in places so make sure your tyres, suspension and sitting bones are prepared! Our bikes were fine but we needed very soft cushions to sit on, especially after the southern route. The site itself is lovely and, although facilities are limited (as advertised), they are clean. The staff are lovely and Nick, in particular, was very helpful with advice about the cycling (and refreshments en route.) We would definitely recommend Slinfold.

A lovely Bank Holiday Weekend

⁣ Site Review 🤩⁣⁣ Slinfold - West Sussex ⁣⁣ *Small and peaceful site with 33 pitches. Mix of grass and hard standing. We were on pitch 4. *This is 1 of 3 @candm sites that is run by volunteer wardens. Mick & Sue, Peter & Lesley were the friendliest wardens we have had the pleasure of meeting. They really should be commended for their roles in keeping this site open, as without volunteer wardens it would close. *Site is well kept, with 2 service point areas which are spotless. *Downs Link runs parallel to the site, excellent for walking and cycling. *Approx 10 minute walk into village of Slinfold, with pub and village store. *Lovely walk along the Downs Link to the village of Rudgwick. The @milkchurn coffee shop serves the best cheese on toast, made with Sussex Charmer made on he farm. There is also a micro brewery @firebirdbrewery where I purchased some local brew. ⁣⁣ Points to note:⁣⁣ *This site has NO toilet/shower block. ⁣⁣ *Pitches are allocated upon arrival, as it is very narrow at the end, so it depends on your vehicle size as to where you are pitched. We were allocated a lovely grass pitch near the entrance……….not sure if we would have enjoyed being on a hard standing pitch down the narrow end. We would definitely return to this site as it’s just over an hour from home and we loved how quiet it was 😊 Thanks to all the other Happy Campers that we met during our stay. Wish you all well and hope to catch up again sometime. John, Debra & Archie 🐶 (blind jingle jangle dog) ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣

Peaceful a step back in time

Came to Slinfold for 3 nights . Kevin and Sue were on duty a friendly helpful couple who are an asset to the club , site kept spotless service points bins emptied every day and cleaned /sterilised. This is our ideal site lots of walking the Downs Link passes the site ideal for dogs and cycling. The village a 5/10 minute walk has a village shop and opposite the village pub , the residents all said good morning a friendly smile was appreciated. These small sites we prefer, don’t require toilet/ shower block as our van has it all. Thank you Kevin and Sue for making our visit so enjoyable the club is so lucky to have you .

For a short stay

We have just come home from a 4 night stay. Firstly, the wardens - who are volunteers, are absolutely great and extremely helpful. But come on Club, as someone else has said, do please give them a sit on mower! They work so hard with that walk behind mower. The Club does need to spend money on this site. No facilities is fine, but the hard standings need tidying up and some of the grass badly needs renewing. Also the photos on this page are accurate - up to a point! Pitches are allocated to fit this narrow site (we are 6.25 and among the smaller vans so don't quite get this). We, and quite a few others, were sent to the far end. Hard standing but very little grass between and mud and tree debris behind. And we have two dogs. All fine until it rained, then pretty muddy and unpleasant at the back of the awning. The vans nearest the entrance have lovely grassy pitches. How we did envy them! (and a lot of the pitches were empty throughout our stay). The far end is near the industrial estate (you can't see it). They do start at 6am (not sure where 5am came from) but the noise is only from the forklift trucks and a bit of hooting - they don't have reversing sirens (mercifully). It really wasn't very noisy. Two service points (spotless) for a small site so never far from a bin/water/waste etc. Site right on Downslink path with access both end. Fantastic for dog walking or for cycling. Slinfold village is an easy walk (and I'm a bit limited with my walking at the moment). Dear little village, lovely people, little shop for very basics (also ice cream) and Red Lion pub gave us a lovely meal. Big garden and very covid aware (take your masks). Whilst the weather was hot and sunny, we had a lovely relaxing time (but would have liked grass to sit on - are you listening CMHC?) but when it rained, it was a bit dreary. There are overhanging trees but we've had worse. Nice enough little site - probably won't return though.

Depends on pitch allocated

Recently stayed a week here with sister and husband bubble .booked together via club bookings but found we were given pitches well apart . Wardens were helpful in moving sister to pitch opposite us . However both pitches were at far end of site under trees one which is a conker tree so had constant knocks on roof all night ! both these pitches are next to an industrial estate and we had a daily early morning ,5 o clock wake up from forklifts unloading lorries .Although there were free pitches through out the week we were told many were limited to 6mtr length for safety so unable to move .We stayed here 10 years ago and have noted how the trees have grown blocking light to this narrow site. The site is well located for bike riding and local attractions. How ever beware where they put you when booking.

Excellent site

We love Slinfold site it is beautiful, peaceful and the staff are fantastic. We stayed for a week from June 12th to the 19th and thoroughly enjoyed this great site, so peaceful just us and the birds and the bees and a few other campers. But don't tell too many others or it might change!!! We will return probably next year it is well place for visiting Sheffield Park and Amberley Museum. This site is in a lovely village with a local pub and beer garden. Just hope it doesn't close for building purposes.

Love it

What a lovely site, we've stayed here several times and will be back. A lovely warm welcome on arrival from the site staff started the weekend in the right way. The village shop is well stocked and the pub has a large garden with plenty of space for a Covid safe drink or meal.

Perfect stay and didn’t want to leave

A little gem! We had a lovely and relaxing break. Great location, friendly people and everything we needed. We originally booked 2 nights and extended an extra night. The only noise we heard was birdsong. We will definitely be back and can’t wait.
