Coastal beauty

If you enjoy surfing, swimming, birdwatching, walking, watching sunsets on the beach, or just sitting in your chair enjoying the fresh air with a nice cuppa, then this has to be the perfect site. The Pembrokeshire coast is stunning. The coastal path is just across the way from the site and a walk in either direction affords wonderful views. We would recommend a trip to Ramsey Island from St Justinians. The island is owned by the RSPB and while only one boat company has rights to land on the island, many others offer trips around to see the cliffs and bays. We were lucky enough to see the first seal pup of the year during the third week of August but there will be many more in the next few weeks. The little bus that stops just at the entrance to the site charges £1 for any journey and is brilliant for getting you back to the 'van after a long walk. St David's cathedral is beautiful, and the refectory serves a good lunch and nice pot of tea. There are plenty of other cafes and pubs too, though we didn't try them all! We will definitely return to Pembrokeshire. And we are wondering if we are too old to give surfing a try. I reckon not.

Learner surfers paradise.

This was our second year at this site & we love it. It is always clean and well cared for, the facilities & pitches are very generously proportioned & the wardens are always friendly and helpful. Our 16 year old son is learning to surf and this site is ideally situated.  We throw him and his board in the car to drop him down at the beach (car park attendants allow this) and he walks back up when he's had enough. It's that close. This is a lovely, peaceful, picturesque site. There have been coments about the bird noise, but it's only twice a day, morning - leaving and evening - arriving to roost and you can pitch away from them. We were visited by the cheeky site badger who sneeks into awnings, such an amazing sight. Evening bats flying by, visiting crickets & the amazing starlit sky make this a great  place for nature lovers. This site would suit people who enjoy the outdoors and countryside. We will be back again. Thank you Whitesands wardens for another great holiday.

Great site and great location

Great site - very clean and tidy. In a great location - the scenery was fantastic. Wardens were extremely friendly and helpful. The local bus service was brilliant - should be promoted on the club site to make motorhomers aware. Only drawback was no wifi but will definitely visit again.

Great Site

This is a fantastic little site with plenty to do out and about. We where very impressed with Pembrokeshire, a great alternative to Cornwall that is no where near as busy. The site was clean and tidy and was in a great location with a surfing beach just down the hill from it.

Nice site, some small gripes

We stayed here in August, and whilst I cannot fault the friendliness of the wardens and the layout of the site, the main grip was the times chosen to clean the toilet block.  10:30 - 12:00 seemed to be when most people actually wanted to use the facilities and this was when they chose to clean them !  Perhaps going to a time later in the day when most folks are out exploring would be more suitable?  Worth noting as well that there is no wi-fi on site & mobile signal is "variable" (this is great if you really want to live off-grid for a bit, but after about a week we started to get withdrawal symptoms).  The road in is quite narrow & don't expect all drivers to be considerate to the fact that you are towing a caravan !  Local Nisa supermarket in St. Davids provided a good (and mostly cheap) place to shop.

A nice site

We stayed here from 8th to 15th August 2015, accompanying a disabled friend and his wife.  The wardens are to be commended for their helpfulness, as they allowed us to use an otherwise closed pitch so we could be next to them.  This otherwise small gesture made a huge difference to the support we were able to give. It was a pity that a coded lock has had to be put onto the toilet block, due to vandalism from certain people, presumed to be from the neighbouring site. Be warned that the approach road B4583 is very narrow in places.  We damaged the caravan trying to squeeze into a too small gateway to allow a tractor and trailer past.  (He would not give way despite the fact that had he backed up 20 yards or so, the lane widened enough to pass.) It is also the main route to Whitesands Bay, and you should expect to meet not inconsiderable opposing traffic.  We solved the problem for the return journey by leaving at 07:00! We were aware we were visiting in school holidays, and were not therefore surprised to find children racing round on bicycles.  Family friendly, and we would imagine quite peaceful out of school holidays.   All in all, a nice site with friendly, helpful wardens.

A Little Lacking

We spent 10 days at this site at the height of the summer school holidays. The site was practically full the whole time we were there. The weather was not kind to us being very wet and windy but we still enjoyed a number of walks along the coastal path which I have to say has some of the best sea views in the country. If you stay on this site in the holidays you need to be aware that there is only one toilet block serving some 150 pitches and it is not adequate at certain times of the day. However the block was clean and tidy most of the time. Whilst we were there the wardens had to fit a keypad to the toilet block door as it seems likely that the campers on other sites which surround this one were using the facilities. This may have contributed to the overcrowding problems encountered. Having said that the site is a good base for walking the coastal path and visiting the beaches especially if you enjoy surfing.

Nice but room for improvement

The site is in a lovely setting but disappointed with times for cleaning with early closing time.  In the two weeks we were there was one shower cubicle in both the ladies and gents out of order.  For a site of that size needs more, another toilet block.  Toilet block closes early in the day and when it is closed the laundry also closes.  There is one spare toilet but not really enough for a large site.  On two occasions whilst we were there there was no hot water.  Hard standings would be good but we understand this is because CC don't own all of the site.  Would also be good to have somewhere to walk/exercise dogs.  When toilets were being cleaned the shop/reception was closed too.

St Davids

This is a really friendly site the wardens are excellent helpful & kept the site clean tidy & rubbish free. We have a motor home which means moving a round lanes difficult so we like public transport which St David's has a service runs Past the entrance of the site which cost £1 when ever you get on the bus if you are going to white sands St David's & plenty of other places. If you have a car it is a great place to tour from. The toilet block is kept very clean plenty of showers wash basins, a good laundry & washing up room over all the site is in a beautiful area with nice scenery & very peaceful.
