Great Peaceful site in a lovely setting

Access roads a little narrow in places but take your time & all will be fine. Warm & friendly welcome from the sites staff who are only too happy to help. Toilet block clean with a separate wc when the main block is closed for cleaning. Childrens play area (not tested as no Children) but the kids looked to be enoying themselves. No longer a shop on site but the campsite next door has all you need. Bus service from the site entrance to Whitesands beach (walking distance) & also St Davids. The site is all grass awning pitches & the staff work hard to keep the site looking great.. Porthgain is a well worthy visit with its harbour & history plus pub & chippy.Pembrokeshire coast is stunning with a recommended vist to Solva/Newgale/Stumble head & fishguard.

A little disappointed - no shop.

We have stayed here a number of times and previously awarded a 5 star review. The staff were friendly. The dog pit stop is a great improvement on having to walk up the lane to allow pooches to do their thing. In addition there is now a gate which means dogs can have a little mooch off lead. The gate seemed secure, a simple latch. The shower block is spotless. There is less disturbance from rooks these days as most of the trees have gone. Although personally they didn't trouble me. The pitches are flat and seem to drain reasonably well. There are lovely walks from site around Carn Lidi and the little cove of Porth Melgan is a delight. The ice cream kiosk at Whitesands Beach sells lovely ice cream. So why you may you ask only 4 stars. Well, there is no shop at all. No gas, no chemicals, no milk, no bread - absolutely nothing. (Although you can go next door to the neighbouring site!) I understand that this a permanent state of affairs - not just covid related. I have enquired of caravan club what the situation is and I await their reply. The site is often very windy. Peg your awning down well!

Nice Quiet Site

Away from the hustle and bustle of town life where bird song can be heard all day long. Staff are friendly and worked hard to get the toilet block open early each day, and they is always the toilet around the side of the block that is open. St David's is about a 1.5 mile walk away, easy cycle if you do not mind a short hill each way (even easier if you have an electric bike). Whitesands is just down the road, good for surfing and has RNLI beach patrol. Site gets the sea breezes so will be cooler when the sun is not out. We will stay here again.

Enjoyable short stay

We enjoyed our short stay at the site. The site team were friendly and the facilities were very clean. We were, however a little disappointed that there was no shop open at the time of our stay and the Dog Walk was basically a walk around the average new build house garden and the gate was not adequately secure. This we feel is important as the walk is adjacent to the children's play area .

A great place.

Not long back from ten days at St. David's. Great location, ideal for walking the Coastal Path and seeing all sorts of wildlife, or cycling quiet lanes and minor roads. Well kept site with helpful, informative and enthusiastic wardens.

Lovely stay at this site

We have recently stayed for 6 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it-our first trip to Wales. The wardens were very friendly and informative about the surrounding areas when we arrived after our very long journey. The views from the site are amazing-this is a very natural site-which fits in with the surroundings perfectly. The beaches and walks are fabulous and St David’s is a perfect little City with a beautiful little Cathedral to visit. Great toilet and shower block which was very clean. All in all we really enjoyed our visit here and hope that it stays being harmonious with its surroundings

COVID-phobic wardens

Stayed here for 2 nights on our ‘tour of Wales’. The site is a large, busy open site with little shelter from the prevailing winds off the sea. It would benefit from some good sized hedges and mature trees to break up the wind. It does have lovely views of Carnedd lleithr from the site. There are no hard-standings and the pitches are all grass which became rather boggy when it rained. I would suggest that a sizeable proportion of pitches ought to be changed to hard standing. The wardens were friendly but appeared excessively COVID-phobic, with constant reminders and signage everywhere about mask-wearing etc. This ‘in your face’ attitude made us feel quite uncomfortable (not how you want to feel when on holiday) and differed from the more reasonable approach we have found in other Welsh CAMC sites on our tour. The toilet block was closed from 10.00-12.00 every day which IMO is far too early for those on holiday who are likely to want a slower/later start to their day. Other sites we have visited have not closed their facilities until 11.00, which is much more reasonable.

Excellent staff and facilities

We have just had 4 nights at St David’s and I must say we found all the staff so very very helpful and obliging they couldn’t have done more to help us as we had a few personal issues which we had to deal with and they were very helpful in what they did, I would say well done and many thanks. We have been members of the club for many years and I must say that this year we have found all the staff and the sights that we have visited have been well organised and very friendly as they have all been working under restricted rules with the pandemic and it could not have been easy with the extra work and restrictions that they have had to work to, in fact we were on the brink of leaving the club before the pandemic as we found the staff were not very friendly at various sites and not very helpful, but this year it’s well done to you all.

Great site, great location.

Stayed here for six nights in early September and couldn't have been more pleased. Misjudging our journey time we arrived early but offered to wait and kick our heels, but the wardens very kindly let us in pretty much straight away even though they were busy. In fact the whole time we were there we never saw them less than busy, but always with a smile and cheery greeting. We were told (never happened before) that while corner-to-the-peg was the rule we could choose to have a front corner there should we wish. This is probably because by far the best view is of the beautiful Carn Llidi and everyone wants to be pointed at it. Be aware though that this might result in two vans being pitched awning towards awning. The pitches are grass, but not a brown patch in sight while we were there and everything was immaculately tended. facilities are as we expect and appreciate. Being ex tenters, this was much appreciated by us. Great site, perfect for us. The big attraction though is the surrounding coutryside, with excellent walking and picturesque villages (along with St David's itself) very close by.
