First time disappointed here

we Have visited Strathclyde park club site many times and always rate it highly. We were very disappointed this time as it was full of travellers. I counted 7 caravans all with commercial towing vehicles. The vans were going the wrong way round the one way system. The other half went in the ladies toilet block to find that every radiator had clothing hung on them to dry. They also had carpets hung over the one way sign. There were kids also playing in the ladies toilets. I believe the travellers were on site for 7 weeks. I thought there was a rule that states 30 days max in any one period. Hopefully on our next visit the site will be back to normal.

Not up to usual standard

Have stayed here many times, as we use it for visiting family. Normally it is super, well kept, clean, friendly staff etc. However on our last stay it felt more like a traveller site. The staff were,as ever, friendly and helpful, but there were lots of commercial vans speeding around ignoring one-way system, kids running all over everybody's sites etc. The men's loo was fine, but my wife tells me the ladies was a mess during the evening, dirty floor and loo paper all over. In fairness, she went back early next morning and it had all been cleaned up. I'm sure the staff were working hard (as ever), this is really more a reflection on some of our fellow campers than on the staff. We were only there one night, so just packed up and left next morning, didn't complain. Hopefully back to normal on our next visit.

Great Site for Dog Owners

Delighted that site adjacent to Strathclyde Country Park - ideal for dog walking - although the site has a very good dog walk - it was great to walk by the loch in the park. Site wardens really pleasant and helpful - and shower block immaculately clean. Liked the layout of the site - spacious pitches and well spaced. The A74 runs close to the site - my fears that it would disrupt sleep were unfounded - it's just a background noise. I was staying her to visit friends in Glasgow - very convenient spot for the city.

Stop over.

Used this site as a stop over only. Usual welcome about how to park. Where everything is. Site immaculate well looked after. Toilet block was cleaned but later on at night it took my husband to find a clean toilet to use. With excrement and urine all over them. The caravaners on site where off an older age like us and to leave a toilet in this condition is disgusting. Remember there are lots of us who have to use these facilities as well. So show respect and leave as you find. The wardens do not deserve this either.

Good for a stopover

I have been coming to this site since it opened, and the people who use it now seem to abuse the facilities. Perhaps it's because it is a non member site and every body and their uncle can use it, The staff must have had a sign machine for Christmas because their are signs every where. My biggest complaint is on arrival they ask you have you been here before and when you say yes they go into jobsworth mode informing you of the site plan, how to park even though you have been caravaning for a few years which they can tell by your membership number. It makes a good place to stop over night but not long term.

This site is a credit to the Wardens who look after it

On my way to the Western Highlands of Scotland I stayed at this site for two nights on 1 and 2 October 2019. The site is extremely well organised and the shower and toilet facilities were spotlessly clean and lovely and warm. The whole site is extremely well maintained and cared for. All facilities were well signposted and the map of the site which is provided when you arrive is very helpful. I was lucky enough to have the sunshine on both days and a friend came to spend the day and we did a five mile walk through the woods up to Chatelherault Country Park. Great cafe at the visitors centre. Yes you can hear the traffic noise, but the site is close to one of the busiest routes from England to Scotland, so it is to be expected. Quite a few lanes when you come off the motorway at Junction 5 travelling north bound, so make sure you get in the right lane! I didn't but I managed to turn around at Bellshill and come back down. The wardens are extremely helpful. I had a slight problem with my fridge in the hired motorhome and one of the wardens was kind enough to assist. Would definitely stay again on my way up to the Western Highlands.

A great site but noisy

Stop 2 of our Scotland expedition, visited Glasgow using Bellshill station, free car park and £4.60 return. Then up to Falkirk, the wheel and Kelpies not to be missed. The wardens work really hard and are really making a show with the gardens and grounds. The facilities are kept immaculate, the pitches large and nicely situated in curves. Only downside for us was the constant noise even at night a constant hum. However we would use this site again but only as a stopover.

Good on-route stopover site

We drove down from Inverness to visit Stirling castle and by the end of the visit it was near 6pm, so decided to stop locally rather than drive through the evening to Chatsworth and wild camp. Fortunately this site is only around 30 minuets from Stirling Castle so a great overnighter. The signing in warden was officious but then it is a club training venue. (I appreciate the processes are in place to guarantee consistency of the brand, but it is a little irritating to be spoken to like a newby 'every time') Luckily most wardens are able to read the person in front of them and adjust the process accordingly. As you would expect the site is immaculately clean and prepared, a little noisy as it's so close to the motorway but not so load that you'll be bothered inside your motorhome or caravan. The dog walk is quite a nice wooded stroll around the storage compound and it's only a short 3-4 minute walk to the local Toby carvery. All in all a very good way point on route to somewhere, though possibly not somewhere to spend much more time..
