Lovely Site

We enjoyed our stay, the wardens were extremely friendly and we had a lovely view from our pitch. The Covid precautions were very well implemented. I agree with previous reviewers that the only downside of this site is that it is difficult to walk straight from the site itself. The wardens gave us printed sheets with 2 lovely local walks but you might want to drive to the walk start. If you are interested in history try to take a guided tour of North Mill in Belper (only limited days) and collect a town walk leaflet from there which guides you round the interesting back streets. We also hired bikes in Ashbourne and had a lovely day cycling the Tissington trail. Make sure you leave the trail to see Tissington village and visit its tea shop.

One Night Stay

We stayed here for one night on route back to Scotland. Facilities were clean and wardens were helpful. There was a bit of road noise. Would stay here again for longer.

A complete gem.

Hats off to Anthony and Shiela for running the cleanest, well maintained CAMC site we have stayed on. The facilities were absolutely spotless. The approach to the 'band system' for access to facilities was interesting. Rather than being issued with a band, you took a band out of the pot of sanitiser fluid outside the door to the block. If there was no band it meant you had to wait (though never did have to). What was interesting (?) is that we did not experience a single occasion where someone forgot to do the right thing and replace the band as they left. Made us wonder about the effect the act of having to retrieve a band from a pot of sanitiser and return it had on the psychology of the users. Perhaps one for the Club to consider as best practice at other sites. Overall, a great site if you want to come, sit and relax and admire the views - which really are beautiful. Not a brilliant location for walking from the door but plenty to go out and see if you revert to wheels. Excellent. Will book this one again and would recommend with no hesitation.

Best Site this year

We have managed to visit 4 Club sites since lockdown ended, and this is the best. The relief wardens were extremely helpful and friendly (and I'm not just saying that 'cos were both Yorkshire Folk!), always stopping to have a chat. We used our own facilities for most of the time but the site ones were immaculate, and the pitches were tidy with regularly mowed grassy areas. The only downside was from road noise if you happened to be on pitches 1 to 4. The site is situated in a World Heritage area and there was much to do, but probably more suited to adults than children. However the grandchildren did enjoy the Heights of Abraham at Matlock Bath.

So relaxing

Lovely peaceful site with lovely views. Very clean, tidy and well cared for. Also very friendly thank you for our lovely few days, which has got Us back into the swing, after a four year break.

Lovely if you just want to sit and relax

This site is very quiet and does have some lovely views from some pitches. One of the downsides is that there is no walking from the site at all. There is a small field for dog walking but the site is on a busy small road, not very good for walking to find any footpaths. You do have to travel some distance to find areas of interest. Carsington reservoir is lovely, with good walking and a trip round the reservoir is a good morning or afternoon stroll. The lady warden is very friendly but the man was very off with a couple who had their new van with them, very dismissive because they didn’t know how the electric worked. It was almost as if he resented them being there. Sorry, but not for us and we won’t be returning

Fabulous site...we will return !

Stayed on this site from Sunday 30th August for 3 nights. What a find ! Very smooth check in with the site’s lady owner who was extremely helpful and gave us a choice of pitches along with very clear and helpful information on their Covid-19 measures. Because most folks were using their own onboard facilities, the site ones were very empty and always available - not to mention spotlessly clean and a pleasure to use (Wristband system in place to ensure not too many people in them at the same time). We had pitch 67 on the lower level and had a lovely view of the valley below through the trees. In fact, everything was immaculate. Spacious pitches and beautifully kept. The gentleman owner was always out and about doing maintenance and greeted us with a cheery smile, a wave, and a bit of a chat every time we saw him. Couldn’t fault the site in any way whatsoever, and It was very well positioned for reaching the multitude of Derbyshire’s attractions. We will definitely use it again, without a shadow of a doubt. If I could give one piece of advice....you should definitely follow the directions given on the website ! The approach is a little steep in parts, but I wouldn’t even attempt to get to the site any other way as we used the other routes in our car when out for the day and it was obvious that those other routes would have been impossible to use with a caravan on the back. A decent sized Motorhome would have found them tricky too.

Great Site

Stayed for only two nights but found everything excellent - Relief Wardens very helpful in getting us a pitch in same area as our friends who have been staying for a week or so before we arrived. Excellent C19 'adaptions' and all facilities very clean and tidy. It was quite windy and raining for some of the visit and the wardens were very helpful to those in need. Site is walkable/cyclable to Belper town in a reasonable time (less than 30 mins at moderate pace to center), we found a circular route on the lanes/paths that was great. I would say great for the quiet and views from some of the pitches and especially the picnic tables.

Lovely site

Returned yesterday from a 3 night stay. The site is well kept and managed. Toilets and showers were clean. The band system appeared to be working well. The wardens were friendly and helpful. Had a few hiccups before I arrived on site and the wardens were understanding and helpful when I called to update them. It is clear they are really working hard to keep us safe and the sites open. Cows quite vocal at times but lovely to hear. A big thank you to all the wardens! Enjoyed some lovely fish and chips from George’s in Belper. Morrison’s have a store in Belper if you need any food.
