Great site for us to have a quick break to use our free night voucher. Perfect for quiet walks and cycle routes although there are some short steep hills in the area. It’s a good idea to plan your walking and cycle routes before you arrive if you can. Navigating through the huge dunes can be a challenge.
Fantastic beaches are not too far to walk to. We did a couple of walks of 10-12km along the coast path to Perrenporth, Holywell and Porth Joke where saw several huge grey seals just off the costal path.
If you like quite sites and walking I would recommend the site. The staff are great and they keep the facilities spotless.
We stayed in mid October when the site want at all busy, just how we like it.
Lovely site in a lovely location
The greeting on arrival must have been one of the friendliest yet received.
A very well maintained site and spotless toilet block with sensible cleaning time so no rush to get ready for the day
Bins were in use at the service points so no need to make a special journey just to get rid of rubbish.
Several small pitch areas spread around the site but most seemed to be closed off.
Dog walk was the best we have come across!
Information room is in the laundry room, and it would have been nice to have had local walks pinned up to photograph as every route we took to Perranporth was an uphill slog plus a lack of signage for public footpaths did not help. (Not the responsibility of CAMC) The walk to Hollywell Bay is a much easier walk and a footpath near the smugglers den pub soon gets you to Cubert which is just before Holywell Bay. As beautiful as the bay is, it does not seem to cater for holiday makers despite 2 pubs. We decided to use the pub furthest from the beach but they stopped taking food orders at 1.45 so a walk back to Cubert where the pub was no longer trading and dogs not allowed in the cafe as no outdoor seating. The locals did not appear to be tourist friendly either.
The nearest bus stop was a 30 minute walk from the site so the site is best suited for those with a mode of transport or enjoy walking.
There are TV ariel points on the electric bollards BUT the fittings for the ariel are removable and most had been removed ( we assumed by those staying there either accidentally or intentionally) So if like us you watch terrestrial TV check the appropriate fitting is there or find one on a vacant pitch before it gets dark.
We would happily visit this site again when the days are longer Very quiet and peaceful
A great site but could be better
Spent two weeks here recently and the stay was very enjoyable. The staff were some of the friendliest ones we've met from arrival to departure.
The entrance road to the site was a little daunting as its single track and is a public road. site. There is the odd makeshift passing place but not useful for caravans. Luckily we didn't meet any oncoming traffic when arriving or departing but did when tripping out for the day. From there you access the site road which is a steep descent so yes the site is quite hilly.
The negatives . . Recycling bins !! As previously highlighted by other reviewers it makes no sense having centralised recycling bins half way up a steep hill near reception. Some guests lower down the hill than us were using their cars to drop their rubbish off. We did the same on a couple of occasions. I can't see how this helps recycling in anyway. Its a 'put off' that might prevent return visits.
The shower block . . . Where did the seating go in the shower blocks? There's not enough room to store your clothing and toiletries. Also in the ladies wash cubicles they don't have doors only plastic curtains and some had the rail hooks missing. My female relatives wouldn't use them, yet the gents did have doors? Perhaps an upgrade is needed.
All in all a good stay but not the easiest site to access and in need of improvements.
Not for us
Not our first visit but not recently. Very disappointed will not be going again.
Biggest problem for us was rubbish bins, only one area where biffa bins located, half way up a steep road. I find this unacceptable that there are no bins at service points, walking up the steep hill for older and disabled people is wrong. Reasons apparently was to save using black bin liners.
Secondly, whilst I accept the site wasn’t busy when we arrived, it did get a lot busier during our stay, though showers and toilet cubicles were clean only half were open, presumably to save cleaning.
Generally it felt a bit unloved overall.
Sadly we won’t be retuning.
Fantastic time
This was our first experience of a Caravan and Motorhome campsite. It was fantastic campsite to spend time with our family in our caravan. The showers/toilet block was always clean. The kids play park was a very good side and plenty for them to do. Everyone was friendly and we would certainly stay here again!
Peaceful Autumnal Visit
What a great site this is. From the minute we arrived on site we new we were in good hands with the extremely helpful and friendly team that run this site. They could not do enough for us. The site is set in a quiet and peaceful location where the only sounds that we heard were that of the local wildlife, particularly the birds singing! Yes it was quiet at the time we visited, but the site still had so much to offer including the dog walk! The onsite facilities including the the toilet and showers were spotlessly clean and well maintained and some of the best that we had experienced. The information point within the laundry building was also extremely useful for providing local tourist information and things to do. The wifi was not brilliant and the phone signal was intermittent so communication with the outside world was challenging, but this is made clear on the site information. We did have reasonably good TV signal. We have decided to book a seasonal pitch here for next year because of its great location with so much to do and see on its doorstep and are looking forward to returning. We also visited the local Smugglers Den pub which does great food and drinks! Its a shame that the management team are moving to a new site for the next season as they have done a great job here and wish them all the best at their new site. Lets hope the new team keep up the same high standards on this great site.
Lovely site
Lovely site in a beautiful valley with lots of walking to do with the south west coast path nearby. Great shower block which was lovely and warm and clean. Very pretty site with lovely trees and flowers and some nice added touches by the very friendly, pleasant, helpful wardens. We saw lots of wildlife on site. We used the footpaths from the site to walk to Holywell Bay and also Perranporth both of which had beautiful beaches. We would definitely recommend this site and we hope to return next year.

Disappointed
We love this site and have stayed a number of times but what a disappointment to find, that due to new rules imposed on the Wardens by the club, the small shop had been disbanded. We do always try to have everything we need with us but there’s no accounting for the milk having gone off overnight and getting ice creams on a hot day! Relatively easy to pop out in the car to the nearest shop but not practical in a Motorhome. Hence the 2 star rating for facilities.

Amazing site!
We stayed here at the end of August 2023 for 5 nights. Friendly staff, super clean facilities and site. Hot showers which you can actually leave on rather than have to keep pushing a button. Lovely and quiet, not close to noisy roads. Central to lots of places and longest drive out for us was about 45 mins. We visited Newquay, Perranporth, Eden Project, Truro and the River Fal. Lots to do in the area for couples and families. Healeys Cyder Farm was a brilliant few hours out and Newquay Zoo gave us a couple of hours entertainment.
I highly recommend this site.
