Take two again!

I have just completed my review giving this site an overall rating of 3 stars & only 2 stars for facilities however on submission it has changed itself to 5 stars !!!!!! I have only just spoken to the CAMC regarding the exact same issue but in reverse, I gave another site a full 5 stars but on submitting it it changed to only 3 stars !!!! Apparently the web site is “playing up!”.

Looking tired

We have been frequent visitors to this site for many years & we are on site now. The views are of course still outstanding and we were lucky enough to manage to get a lower tier pitch facing the bay. This years wardens are as already commented on friendly & helpful. However, the site is now looking very tired especially the facilities block having just come from Damage Barton AS it really is an eye opener as to just how tired they are (Damage Barton is cheaper & has the same sea views). The showers have black mould on the floor tiles & the ceiling, the showers themselves are pouring more water from the leaking fittings than the shower head! Hubby went in the disabled toilet/shower room which he said was a total mess with black mould & the windows full of cobwebs & dead insects (10 mins after cleaning). I still can’t believe that porta cabins are still being used for toilets/showers for the people at the top of the site. This is a very popular site that desperately is in need of refurbishment, I can only think that the previous reviewer who thought that the facilities were immaculate maybe doesn’t have many better sites to compare these to?

Great

What a perfect setting, wherever you pitched you had a lovely view. The facilities were kept immaculate and the site was well kept. All of the wardens were great and helpful but a special mention of Mandy is a must, she was fantastic on our last night when the winds were predicted at 45 mph and as we only had a small van and very close to the cliff top we asked to move - at the time she didn't have anywhere to move to but after about an hour one had become available and she came and found us to say we could move onto it. She really went out of her way to help. Some beautiful places around to go and visit but it a car is needed as buses were very infrequent.

Its good, but

..... I wish they would make the pitch policy clearer. So it has lovely views and some fine walks along the coast path. The coast path is quite a challenging walk with some very steep ascents and descents. If you have a fear of heights or are infirm, it's not for you. The site is beautifully maintained - clean, with everything in its place. Perhaps just a little too ordered as it can be easy to inadvertently break some of the rules. Park in the wrong place and you'll know about it. That said, its easy to see how a failure to maintain order can easily lead to a breakdown. My only criticism of the place relates to the front row and how you get a pitch there. Essentially, its random. Pitches are not assigned to you at booking and they're all the same price. This means people on the front row pay the same as those on the back row or field who have a rather different view and certainly not like the photos you see here. To get on the front row, you'll need to stay a while and hope that during your stay, someone moves on and you can nab their former pitch before someone else does the same. This means that around 10:30, there can be a lot of people moving around, pulling things out and hammering things in. Also, if you *don't* have an awning, you have fewer pitches available to you and not the front row. Fire regs apparently. But i never understood how if you have a smaller footprint, you're a greater risk. Cant help but think that they might want to revisit their booking system and perhaps adding a premium for front rows. But all said and done, a very pleasant site

Our forth year in a row staying at Trewethett Farm.

We have just come home from a 17 night stay at Trewethett Farm. This was our forth summer holiday in a row staying here. Can't really fault the site as the facilities are excellent and the views are just stunning, great location for the coastal path and Tintagel. As dog owners the dog area is great. In past years we have found the welcome was very cold and the wardens not friendly at all. Everything felt like we were an inconvenience to them. This year however there are "NEW" wardens who are fantastic... very warm and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble for them. They were great with us when we asked to move pitch as our 11 year old son is Autistic and wanted the view of the bay. Well done for changing wardens as these new wardens are a credit to the club. Hope to book again for next summer. Thank you...

Great site,

This year was the second year of visiting this site. The views are stunning and the site is kept clean and tidy. Just two criticisms, management of arrivals on site wasn’t great with caravans backing up along the narrow entrance road. Maybe more can be done in relation to enforcing the 1200 arrival time? Second criticism is in relation to general site rules, there were users parking their car(s) anyhow on the pitch which looked unsightly. There was also a drone flying overhead from one of the units, great as they are I was under the impression that they were forbidden on club sites? Those are minor gripes about an otherwise fantastic site.

Marvellous

Second visit to this site. Glorious views from many pitches. Wardens are some of the nicest most obliging and helpful we've come across. Grass cut daily. Very efficient maintenance. Very handy well stocked shop. Other sites take note. Dog walk is more than adequate and so good to be able to let the dogs have a free run. Pizza van/Fish and chip van very popular. Love the site and will definitely stay again.

We'll be back....

A few weeks ago, I was looking through the sites to book a couple of nights away and was thrilled to see 2 nights available at Trewethett. With our love of walking and me having always wanted to visit Tintagel Castle, this was perfect. Unfortunately, we arrived during the day just before storm Evert. We weren't going to let it deter us from enjoying the site, it's facilities and fabulous location. The next day brought disappointment that our castle tickets were cancelled due to the storm but as we were so close, we walked to Tintagel, something to eat and then back along the coastal path. In doing so, we could see just how perfectly Trewethett Farm site is situated. The wardens were welcoming and work hard to keep the site looking so good. Good, clean facilities. Great couple of days but as we didn't get to see the castle, just going to have to come back..... can't wait!!

Mediterranean vista from our van!

We can only echo what other campers have said, a perfect spot on the stunning North Cornwall coast. Close enough to busy Tintagel (2 miles) and Boscastle (2.5 miles), but very peaceful. The sea was like glass (w/c 19th July) and Benoath Cove is idyllic at low tide albeit a bit of a scramble. Rocky Valley is below the site and a green idyll in the heat, with fresh water pools to dip in. Onsite there were rabbits everywhere, which we loved (as did the local stoat). Very quiet site with good, clean facilities. We could have stayed much longer and will return. We are a couple without children, so didn't check out the children's facilities. Coast path & access to Benoath Cove would be a trial for small children & not buggy-friendly.
