A long walk from anywhere

We arrived in our motorhome to a very friendly and helpful lady. This is a lovely site with fabulous views, however, unless you are an avid walker and super fit, you need a car or bikes to get you around as it's 3 and a half miles to Ullswater. We took our electric bikes down to Ullswater and the ride back was a killer even with the added power of our batteries! The toilet block was spotlessly clean and had everything you need. The reception sells essentials like milk etc and there is a fish and chip van that visits every Tuesday and Friday from 6:30 - 8:00pm. After waiting for half an our to be served (with 12 people in front of us) we were told there was only 2 fish left! Both the fish and the chips were pretty disgusting and at a cost of £6 each, I wish I'd cooked my own food now! You live and learn! There is no wifi on this site at all although my Vodafone signal was perfect. We visited the Troutbeck Inn for a couple of drinks one lunchtime, but there was no sight or smell of food, so I'm not sure whether they serve food or not. Around the site, a man drives his mini tractor around at 9:30 every morning collecting rubbish, so there's no chance of a lie in! Even though we don't have a dog, we took a walk up through the gate and beyond which was very nice. Although this is a very nice site, I don't think we'll be returning as it's just too far from anywhere unless you have a car
