Good base for visiting London

Used the site as a base for a short break in London.  Excellent location.  Easy to get to from M25 and Denham station 5 minutes drive away.  Just over £13 for an off peak return to Marylebone complete with all zones tube. Or allow half an hour for walking to the station plus there are a couple of buses from the site to the station. We weren't expecting peace and quite given the proximity to the M25, Heathrow and Denham airfield.  So there were no nasty surprises on that front.  In fact the main noise was from helicopter traffic.  But didn't cause us any problems. Some of the pitches are quite compact.  We have a fifth wheeler and there would definitely be some pitches we wouldn't be able to get on to.  But all are level and gravelled. Facilities on site absolutely the tops.  Some of the best toilets and showers we've experienced. Really great site wardens who were very helpful.  They had compiled a nice circular walk from the site to the nearby canal and a pub that serves good food, especially Sunday lunch. The site met our needs perfectly.  It's not the place to go with young children (unless it's just a sleeping base) or if you're expecting masses of space and greenery.   As mentioned by Lynndy, the roads around the Denham area are absolutely appalling.  Take it easy and watch carefully for pot holes!! Will definitely use this site again for any London trips.

Pot holes and rail fares

Just after arrival on site, I noticed a large flap had been torn away form the caravan tyre wall and can only assume it was caused by one of the unavoidable pot holes at the turn into Denham Green Lane. The pot holes are very deep and very jagged. TAKE CARE when turning onto this road. We spent 3 days travelling into London; the first by overland rail from Denham Green Station including underground ticket cost around £13.50 for day return off peak. MUCH CHEAPER course of action is to take the bus to Uxbridge, can be caught from club site (but goes the long way round) then Piccadilly Line from Uxbridge Underground station directly into London. Using contactless card to pay for ticket at barrier halves the cost of buying a ticket through the machine and negates the £3.50 outlay for an Oyster card. Get the 331 bus from Uxbridge to Denham Village and walk back to site; cost of single £1.50 unless you have a bus pass. Hope this helps, on site wardens were temporary and not familiar with travel info, written information needs updating and clarification please.

Quiet

Very clean small site, handy for Windsor, Hampton Court via car and London via train. Station is 20 minute walk or car parking is £6 per day at station. Amenities are spotless and wardens very good. Will use this site again to visit London.

What a find!

We wanted a site near London that was reasonably accessible and this beautifully located small site was ideal.  The staff were warm and friendly and the site and facilities were impeccable.   Would definitely come back.

Lovely Small Site

Took a quick weekend break and were very pleased with the site. Lovely welcome, and very well maintained hardstandings. The toilet block looked new! Cycled to Rickmansworth via the canal towpaths, even in the drizzle was great fun with many pubs available on the way!

Ideal location for visiting London

Site is small and well kept and ideally located for visiting London.  Car park at Denham train station for £3.50 per day (after 10am).  Our family of 4 (2 adults & 2 children) purchased a day travelcard into London Marylebone which included underground and buses in zones 1-6 - cost £26.80 (childrens ticket is £1 each) Visited Windsor Castle - family ticket £51.00 although you can visit as many times as you like in 12 months - great value

Even the little airport entertained us!

Really loved our two night stay and will certainly go back.  Surrounded by lovely places to walk.  Staff were exceptionally friendly and site is beautifully kept.

An excellent Club site

My wife and I stayed at the site over xmas and used it as a base for visiting relatives. Friendly and helpful (relief) wardens, excellent and clean facilities and conveniently situated near major roads, a railway station, and with Hillingdon tube an easy drive away. The Country Park is easily accessed, as is Denham itself, with (for us) no noticeable disturbance from the airfield. We've been staying at the site, occasionally, for over 25 years and it always delivers our expectations of a Club site.

Very Friendly Welcome

We used this site for just one night as it was a convenient place to stay on our journey.  I wasn’t sure what to expect but I was bowled over by the warmth of the welcome we given by the wardens.  There is a good dog walking path leading to woodland which starts directly outside the site.  The only downside is the road leading to the site is narrow.  We arrived from the south in darkness and had to stop several times to allow oncoming traffic to squeeze past.   Not a problem for us  as we live in a single track Devon Lane but in the morning we turned right outside the site and drove north and found the road in very bad condition with one or two wheel swallowing potholes.  In summary a very friendly little site in a good location which we must visit again sometime as it has more to offer than just a transit stop.
