Great New Year break!

We stayed on this site from 28th Dec to 1st Jan and had a wonderful time. We were particularly impressed that on arrival the wardens had coned off a suitable pitch for our long Motorhome (take note other wardens please) this was very helpful and made us feel very welcome. The weather was great, cold and bright, which made walking into the centre or walking the dog very pleasant. The wardens were temporary over the holiday period having previously worked on the Kendal site and they couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. I would like to say a special thank you to them. I hope they look at the reviews.

Yet another great Christmas & New Year

We have now been going to York since 1997 and can honestly say this was one of the best years ever.  The wardens are without a doubt the friendliest we have ever met on this site.    Even saw Santa emptying the bins!!   The barbecue and booze event on New Years Eve was hilarious and it was lovely to stand on the veranda chatting to fellow caravanners who we have met on previous visits.   As always the facilities were spotless and the proximity to local shops is a huge bonus in not having to brave the supermarket at this time of year.   It was also good to see the River Ouse at a low level for most of our stay.  Great walks into the city and hardly any need to move the car.   The caravans and motor homes looked very Christmassy with lights and decorations.   Great place and wonderful wardens.   Looking forward to this year as we have been very fortunate to get booked in again for the festive period.  Thanks

excellent

This site is excellent, with its location in the middle of york. The staff were very nice , the site is clean and tidy. My only gripe, is its full every weekend for 2015, yet when you go into the toilets and showers, there are signs saying due to low usage and bookings the toilets are locked out of use.  I fully understand the site is popular but its frustrating when you want to pop up for the weekend but cant, because on week one of the year, its already fully booked. That said i will try and get a cancellation.

Comment from Community Manager:

Many thanks for taking the time to leave a review and we are so pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay at York Rowntree Park and that you found the site excellent. I just wanted to let you know to avoid any confusion, the site is currently undergoing refurbishment. Because of this the site has 25% less pitches available to book, so as such this is the reason that 2 of the showers in the gents and ladies are closed. I hope this information helps explain and thank you again for leaving a review. The wardens look forward to hopefully greeting you on site again soon.

First class site

we have just returned from another Christmas at Rowntree Park. The site is perfectly situated for visiting York, the centre being a 10 minute walk away. The wardens did a fabulous job in running the site, and keeping it immaculate. There are plenty of places near by if you want to visit, but there is plenty to keep one entertained in York itself.Once pitched up. you don't really need to move your vehicle again. A 3 minute walk brings one to the hamlet of Clemnthorpe, where bread vegitables and all manner of things can be purchased, there are also plenty of restaurents/take aways here. An absolulty first class site
