Tranquil

A lovely peaceful site ,very clean showers and pot washing area . All the staff were helpful especially Axel at the reception . The bar is amazing set in the dove cote with a beautiful fire and wonderful wooden stair case .we ate in the Crepeier twice ,and both times the food was delicious and very reasonably priced. As it was May when we stayed it was too cold to swim but the pool area was lovely  there is also swings etc for little ones . We would definatley stay there again

2 nights stay

We arrieved at the site to a very warm welcome, he explained all about the site and area around. The pitch are quite big and spacious all grass but well maintained, Toilet and shower block all very clean. A small restaurant and bar are on site and worth a visit.  The area around is very quaint and peacefull.

Stop over

A nice site to stop over on your way south. We arrived late & we were made very welcome & a choice of where we would like. Would go there again & stay more nights to look around Normandy. Recommend to other campers.

Great site

We stayed two nights here at the end of July. Nice welcome at Reception. Pitch was excellent, grassy and spacious. We needed an extension lead which the reception staff were happy to loan us (for a small refundable deposit). The site had a real traditional camping feel to it. The lack of hedges make it quite open, unlike many other sites. Being the end of July there were lots of families (popular with tourists from the Netherlands). The 15 a side football game on the sports field was great to see - kids of different nationalities kicking a football rather than texting or playing video games. Facilities were of a good standard, the swimming pool was impressive and the 'bar' was a delight. Like stepping back in time. Overall, I would recommend this site.

Well worth lingering!

My wife and I spent a week at le Columbier in August and were very pleasantly surprised. The site is large and facilities generous. Special treats were the free concert in front of the chateau, classical music played by a quartet of: flute, violin, viola and cello, with free interval refreshments. Apart from the lack of sun for us the scene was identical to their website, chairs provided! We also enjoyed a 4-course meal in the chateau, only available two nights a week we understand, which can be prepaid at reception (a set price with a number of choices per course), but cash only in the dining room. There were just 12 diners including us two and not room for many more, hence the need to book in good time. The chateau is plainly a family home and we suspect several of the younger staff are family members. As well as their permanent Epicerie (food shop), there is also an occasional stall of local produce. A nice touch is the building set out as a large lounge, complete with big tv and DVD player, plus a recent very smart Yamaha piano. We observed Madame converse freely in French, English, German and Dutch, she plainly runs a classy establishment! I'm sure we will visit again.

Very peaceful and relaxing.

A very spacious site with large grassy pitches.  Not all pitches benefit from the shade provided by trees but overall the site is good.  We visited the last week of June so the site was mainly adults, hence very quiet.  Be warned though, only one toilet/shower block is in use as it was still considered to be 'Low Season'. The site is well located for visiting various attractions and we were out and about everyday.  The local roads are a bit narrow and oncoming locals tend to stray over the white line......all a bit worrying for my passenger! Overall we enjoyed our time at Le Colombier and we will probably use the site again.

Two stopovers

We used Le Colombier as our stopover point between Calais and the Pays de Loire Atlantique. It is a very quiet site with lots of facilities for families young and old alike. Our stay was for three nights on each occasion and we had electric and water hook-ups. The pitch size is excellent with plenty of room for our outfit. There has been a change in policy in the two weeks between our visits and bread and pastries can no longer be ordered for the next day. The manager guesstimates what is needed. This morning there were no pain au chocolate left, only two pain au raisin but lots of croissants, baguettes and pain traditionelle; my visit to the shop was not a late one. We enjoyed a meal at the Creperie last night and the lady there was very helpful and friendly even bringing a bowl of water for our dog. Unfortunately we could not book a table at the restaurant and was told our 4.30 pm arrival was too late to book. It was suggested that on another occasion we should call ahead to book, use the Creperie or a local restaurant. We would use this site again. Our only concern is the route to the site after Thiberville as the roads are quite narrow and locals do not slow down in the main.

June 2015

Not quite what we expected but then we were on our first French tour. After setting up where we had arranged told that toilet block was not used in low season, GREAT!. Quiet site with many one night stay people going south. We had booked 9 nights and we only scratched the surface of places to visit within a short car ride. On site food was pretty good considering it was one woman on her own that looked after it. Would we go back?, probably but would choose my pitch carefully.

Our stay-2Nts-with-Motohome Mid June.

Great site with nice staff who have a good knowledge of English. A little isolated for anyone with no other means of transport other than their motorhome but don’t let this put you off. We called in to Honfleur before arriving at this site around 6:00pm. Honfleur was lovely with its old style buildings, churches and cafés, I would highly recommended it. As for the site they have large open grassy areas with trees marking each plot. Water and 12amp electric on hand although if you have to fill up with water it would be best done before you set your pitch. Good facilities for washing and toiletries, showers a little small but found all the sites in France that we came across had small shower cubicles. You can order bread and pastries ready for the following day. There is a quiet reading room as well as a heated outdoor pool, bar and a restaurant next to the Chateau. The site is large and the people we met on the site were all friendly, some coming back time and again. It looks like a convenient site for anyone on route to Le Mans for the 25 hr race as we met a number of people doing precisely that. I would recommend it and return again when travelling through Normandy.
