Great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We stayed here for 4 nights at the beginning of August. This is a great family run site (no students earning vacation cash here). Good sized pitches with shared water and drainage. The pool area is really good and not busy at all. The owner was a real character and took us on a tour of his vineyard -really informative. I recommend the wine which is only available from the site - european regulations have affected the owners farming/vineyard business! The raclett night was great. The site is just a short bike ride from Geneva. Highly recommended site.

Middle aged homers - 8 night stay

Another excellent caravan club recommended site. Generously sized pitches with very good facilities which are well maintained and clean. The site owners and staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Our only slight criticism would be the lack of atmosphere in the evenings around the bar/ restaurant area (compared to other sites that we have stayed at) probably because the meals were quite expensive.

Always a favourite

Just returned from our 3 rd visit here with large caravan and 3 kids, July/Aug 2016. Its been 4 years but can honestly say this site is still just as fabulous as ever. Much busier than it was but still friendly, exceptional service. Wonderfully clean facilities and large spacious pitches. Will definately be back again this is one of our favourites without question.

We stayed for 16 nights. End June and early July.

The site is very good until it gets full then facilities on extended part where the large pitches are get very stretched. The site is in a very good area for touring around Lake Annecy and Lake Geneve. We enjoyed our stay.

Spot on site as always

Visited La Colombiere for 10 days at last week of June. This is our fourth visit to this site and it improves each year. The owning family are superb - happy, friendly and always there to serve. They reinvest in the site each year and keep it well up to their high standards. It is in a perfect location for days out to Annecy, Geneva, Montreux, Lausanne and Evian to name but a few. The pitches are good sized and kept well maintained. I would recommend this site to everyone.

Lovely site in good location.

Stayed for 7 nights at end of May. All staff friendly and helpful. Site location is handy for the motorways to the French Alps and Italy or further into France. Also good for access to Geneva. You can either drive into Geneva or use a bus which is about a 20 minute walk from the site to the local shopping centre which has a superb swimming pools and climbing wall. Toilet facilities were clean and fresh. The top field has new facilities which aren't heated but the showers were hot with good temperature control even although they were button push. The main facilities in the lower area are heated but the showers weren't as good as they too were button push which only seemed to get warm just as they turned off.

We were on the larger pitch wich has water and grey water disposal and higher amperage. WiFi was great and can be used on all machines.

Grass pitches are well maintained although on the soft side and are seperated by small hedges. When we were there it seemed as though the washing machines had been removed

We did have quite a bit of noise one night from a group staying in a cabin across the way.

review of la colombiere

We stayed here from the 14th May 2016 for 14 nights with a caravan. The pitches were well laid out, of good size and grass etc. well maintained. Electricity supply was fine and easy access to water. Shower blocks were kept very clean plentiful hot water and plenty of sanitary facilities. One block was heated. The site was often quite full(a number of one night stays) but it never felt busy, overcrowded or noisy. There was a lovely outdoor pool which was heated and an indoor smaller one. The site some shops for groceries and close to the motorway. The staff at the site were very helpful and friendly and knowledgeable. Due to the degree of some openness of the pitches you got to know your neighbours and there was a friendly, sociable feel to the site, no doubt led by the way the staff were. There were good waste disposal and recycling facilities. The site was thoughtfully, and attractively, laid out with plants and shrubs and had an ecological/environmentally series of notices about the plants and wildlife. There was a lot to see and do in the area. I would not hesitate to recommend this site to others and use it again myself.

A beautiful, well managed site in a pretty location.

We visited recently on our current tour of France and the Italian lakes. The weather could have been kinder but this also applies to most of Western Europe. The site is well located close to the autoroutes and is ideal for visiting Annecy, Aix les Bains, Chamonix Mont Blanc and particularly Geneva. You can visit Geneva by bus from near the site or drive there, you don't need the Swiss vignette if you stay off the motorways. A boat trip on the lake is highly recommended. The site itself is clean tidy and efficiently managed. I particularly liked the wifi which is free and, unlike many, does not require you to continually log-in but stayed available throughout the visit. I particularly liked the Auberge on site, which I understand is independently run. The food wasn't particularly cheap, however lunch was especially good value, with a salad starter, main, cheese, sweet and a quarter bottle of wine for €15. My special favourite was the fondue vigneron - basically a fondue bowl on a camping stove full of boiling red wine in which you dip small cubes of beef to cook yourself, with salad, fries, bread and three types of sauce - absolutely delicious at €21 per head I would thoroughly recommend this site.

Beautiful Location

La Colombiere is a premier site with an impressive array of facilities, located close to the Swiss border and close to the main autoroute to Geneva and the Alps. The site is very attractive and has over 160 pitches for tents, motorhomes and caravans, each bordered by hedges for privacy, with a large number of new (and some rather old) holiday cabins for rent. The layout is L-shaped, with most of the caravans farthest away from the entrance on the foot of the ‘L’. Most pitches are sloping, some quite a lot, but the ‘large’ pitches are equipped with an individual water supply and grey water drainage. The location is between the Jura Mountains and the Saleve range, with the views pretty rather than spectacular. There are 3 unisex shower & toilet blocks, the one in the end field being the newest and somewhat open to the elements, which may be pretty uncomfortable during the colder months. These are closed for most of the afternoon for cleaning, which can be a bit inconvenient. The swimming pools are really lovely, with a regular ‘jogging’ pool, a children’s pool with slides, and a Jacuzzi-style bubble section. There is also a warm indoor pool with high pressure jets for a bit of relaxation, and also a sauna and Turkish Baths which unfortunately were not open at the time we were there. There are children’s play areas, a very slick laundry with a simple “one button” operation for washing clothes, the usual chemical waste disposal and sinks for dish-washing, and even a low-level sink for washing dogs! The restaurant on the site (The Auberge) is well worth a visit with top-quality dishes at reasonable prices, but you need to book as it is very popular. The little shop is only open from 8:00am to 10:00am but provides fresh baguettes, croissants, etc., which can be pre-ordered at reception. Finally they provide excellent WiFi for free, the best I have come across. Our 2 weeks was marred by truly horrendous weather, with many nights’ sleep ruined by thunderstorms of biblical proportions, and although this was unusual for June I guess that the weather in these mountainous areas can turn very suddenly. We spent a lot of time driving to the many local beauty spots, I would recommend Annecy and Aix-les-Bains (both situated on beautiful lakes), Chamonix and Mont Blanc, and of course Geneva. One point to note is that you do not need a Swiss Vignette for driving in Switzerland if you do not use the Autoroutes, so we drove into Geneva twice. We also visited the amazing “Microcosm” museum at the world-famous CERN establishment, only about 30 minutes’ drive away.
