Pleasant site

It was unfortunate to be there for only 3 nights and experience floods and consequent loss of electricity at end of May. Busy with families (spring bank hol), the caravan pitches not much of a view and of course got very messy with hours of rain. There is no indicated parking on arrival and we didn't know where to leave van to go in office. Must be very bad at busy times.

mosquito mob

very nice site but it was invested with mosquitos & we all got bitten to death it would have been nice if the staff at the reception had warned us on our arrival about the mosquitos we also felt like second class citizens because we were put on a pitch at the top of the site & the grass had not been cut there were plenty of other pitches they could have put us on the shop was good & they sold mosquito repellent which was a god send the pool area was very nice as was the take away & bar we would like to go back to this site as it is not to fare from Calais

handy stopover

A convenient site for a three day stopover in a good location to get a taste of the area. Pitches are level but sandy and little grass cover although we were there at the end of the season.  Our allocated pitch was unavailable on arrival (previous occupants still there) which was disappointing as we could not be next to our friends who had paid a supplement for a pitch adjoining ours (they had booked independently). We were offered a choice of two pitches neither of which were easy to access with our motor home and was really dark under trees as well as being a distance from where we should have been. Eventually, after another trip to reception and having expressed our disappointment and frustration (there was no understanding that the people were still on our allocated pitch and there was no interest in pursuing that) we moved to another pitch nearer to where we should have been.  The shop was good and well stocked, take away was adequate, pool area enjoyed by all. However, we wouldn't go back.

A Great Site

This was our third stay at this site, but the first time in our own caravan and we think its a great site! Ideally located for exploring the Chateau's of the Loire valley, with a great pool complex and a really nice relaxed feel to it. We found everyone to be friendly and helpful and whenever we needed it, they pointed us in the right direction, so all in all, we had a great stay at the Chateau des Marais and we'll definitely be back again!

Great campsite and holiday park

My wife and I are a retired couple and we met our children and grandchildren for a week in August. We were in our caravan and thought the facilities were excellent. Slight fluctuations in power supply the only problem. Our son was in a chalet with his family and our daughter in her trailer tent with hers so between us we really tested the facilities. The site was a bit noisy but no more than you would expect for a site so well set up for children. The swimming pool was great. Our only criticism is of the restaurant which my wife and I thought was expensive and the food (steak and chips) poor quality.

lovely family site

We stayed for 12 nights in early August and enjoyed big shady pitches with easy access to the pool area for the children. We found the staff pleasant and helpful, the shop well filled with French goodies and the information kiosk well furnished with local leaflets. The surrounding area is outstanding, Blois is gorgeous and excellent for eating out at night, the chateaux are magnificent. The only negative is the poolside where we saw several slips and one that required hospitalisation.

Ok but expensive

We stayed at this site for two single nights on the way to and on return from our stay in the Dordogne. I found it expensive to stay and the on-site food was also expensive and the staff were sullen enough to be from Paris.  The Pool complex is pretty good with loads of variety however the poolside itself is lethal.  I witnessed loads of slips and falls including my own children.
