Les Iles Jun/July 16

Agree with previous reviews. Good site, bad signage to it from the north, tricky entrance especially when leaving! Right on the beach with a great coastal walk to Penestin (5/6km e/w). Suprised how many shops, bars, resturants were closed. David is right about the tight spaces and trees. No privacy at all. They had a storm a week earlier that had knocked their internet out - for at least two weeks. Suprising how we now come to expect it. Good restaurant on site. Great pool for the kids. Yes the shop was poorly stocked and you have to pre-order some essentials. Yes the site did need a little "TLC".

A good site But...

The site is in a good position on the coast path. Plenty of nice beaches very near. Area is very quiet and rural. There is a lovely pool good for all ages. But many of the pitches are small and quite crowded together. The pitch we were given was fine but hedges, trees and grass had not been cut. It was difficult to site the van without branches banging on the roof in the wind. Also part of the touring part of the site has now been given over to cabins which are close together. The site was not full when we were there but think it will seem rather crowded in high season.

An extremely friendly site

An extremely friendly site with a lovely bar - an excellent site to stay at. There is a restaurant on site which was open whilst we were there at the end of April and a lovely restaurant serving local seafood just a 2 minute walk from the site along the beach.

Wonderful!

We first stayed at this site over 30 years ago and had a fantastic time then.  I was wondering if this visit all these years later would live up to my memories - as sometimes it doesn't work going back. What a pleasant surprise!  The site has of course now got more amenities and the toilet/shower block has been improved.  However it has still retained the charm it had previously! Toilet/shower facilities are excellent, pitches not huge, but fine for us, pool and bar area looked perfect although we didn't use them ourselves. Shop a bit under stocked, but it was the last week of the season and Carrefour is close by.  Loved having the beach right by the campsite and we found lots of other similar sandy and unspoilt beaches nearby.  Staff were also very helpful. We travelled a bit further south to look at sites for next year (to bring our grandchildren) but none came close to Les Iles! We will be back next year for sure!   Many thanks for a wonderful stay!

Great break

We stayed here for 10 days and thought it was great, a little tight for caravan, awning and car on pitch but not a real problem, beach was great for the kids plenty of rock pools to catch and see all kinds of sea life even swam in the sea when the tide was in. Not a bad restaurant, food was tastey just a little limited, bar area was good, pool was ok slide was good fun, pleasant staff, friendly and put on activitys in the field such as rock climbing wall. Toilets and showers were clean and adequate as was the site shop, Carrefour supermarket only 5 mins down road  Will be stopping here again

Bad holiday

Having just returned from this site I would not return to it again I will say all the staff on site were very helpful and polite but apart from the toilet area being very clean i can not find a plus for anything we were given our pitch number on arrival we got our caravan with awning set up to find we then had no room to sit outside as the pitch was small .the swimming pool is not big enough to have a swim we went down to the beech to find that you could not swim there either as it was rocky and covered in seaweed the entertainment was good as was the bar area

Lovely Location

We 've stayed here twice returning in late June this year. It's a really lovely site with a great shower/toilet block. It was peaceful when we where there, no entertainment but that's fine for us. Only a few Brits there too, mainly used by French, Dutch and Germans. I like that. Staff are polite and helpful. Pitches are fine and most are shaded. The sea is through the campsite gate. Lovely swimming pool and small cafe on the terrace. Penestin is a nice little town and the local area pretty and interesting.
