Postcard from Aups

This story happened on: 27/06/2012

We left the increasingly crowded and noisy coast on Monday and followed our new chums, Kitty and Steve, up into the hills of the Haut Var and the town of Aups.

We’re camping under the trees among the meadows at Camping Les Prés. The campsite is a short walk into the town. It’s peaceful here, with just the gurgling of the swimming pool and birds twittering in the background. The occasional low-flying fighter jet rips across the perfect blue sky en route to the military area to the north!

Aups has all the charm of a small Provençal town. It’s within the area of the Pays de Verdon: the Lac de Sainte Croix and the Grand Canyon du Verdon are a few miles north of here. As we’re in a motorhome, we’re travelling on tomorrow to Aiguines for a night stop to see the lake. After that we plan to visit Moustiers Ste Marie and then Castellane via the gorge.

Here are some photos of our visit to Aups.
