Let the train take the strain

This story happened on: 02/03/2012

Peterborough Ferry Meadows is a lovely CC site- as well as being convenient for the A1 for travelling north, or for going west to Birmingham, it is on the edge of a beautiful area of parkland, and there are lots of cycle routes near the site.

An even bigger attraction is that the site is only a few minutes walk away from Ferry Meadows station on the Nene Valley Railway- a standard gauge restored railway, so provided you coordinate your visit with the NVR timetable, you can take a train ride into Peterborough, on many times a steam train- and even get a discount on the ticket price as a caravan site user. How good is that?

Sounds great !  This site is on our list to visit. Every time we plan to visit over the last two seasons, something has prevented us from going. We must try harder in 2012 :-)

I've booked to go again in August, made sure it was when the trains were running. Shouldn't have any problems with sparks from steam trains igniting the grass and bushes unless the weather significantly improves!
