Try a modern town trail!

This story happened on: 02/03/2012

Early on when I started caravanning, I kept trying out Caravan Club sites that were new to me, and soon discovered that Commons Wood at Welwyn was a good base for exploring. On different trips I was able to visit the remains of Verulamium at St Albans, Knebworth, Shaw's Corner (National Trust), the De Havilland Aircraft Museum, Welwyn Roman Baths (in a tunnel under the A1(M)!), Hatfield House. In 2011 I decided to explore Welwyn Garden City itself- there are so many interesting things to see, and leaflets are available at the CC site which show walks which take in the most important sights - including the historic Daily Mail Ideal Home Village. It makes a change from countryside walks.
