1st Big Adventure Route 500

This story happened on: 22/07/2016

On the 11th September 2015 we purchased out first motor home a Swift Sundance 580PR 2011 from SMC Motorhomes Newark from when we first saw it to delivery this Company was fantastic and for me to say this they must be good as my friends would tell you.

for complete novices like us with what may have been very silly questions nothing has been too much trouble

We had a couple of weekends away but our first big adventure was this June, the route 500 my husband had seen this on Countryfile so we set off from the East Midlands our first stop was just outside Sterling Blair Drummond Caravan Park for 2 nights a lovely site in a walled garden, then off to Inverness on the start of our adventure next stop Culloden Moor Caravan Club Site this was lovely and the best shower block I have ever seen, the wardens who had just started were lovely we pitched up kettle on and as well as the cuppa drank in the views stayed for 2 nights then off to Gairloch stunning scenery single track roads lots of pull in places concentration needed but beautiful then off to Durness 2nights here Dunnet Head next  Castle of May is a must then on to Brora final stop Bunree. All of the sites bar one were Caravan Club Sites our neighbours on every site we stayed on were welcoming, all of the wardens were excellent. Midges even in June were prolific at one point I looked as though I had chickenpox never bothered the other half!

When we were on the road other motor home owners would wave I said to other half who’s that he just looked at me I eventually did click.

When we stopped for a cuppa or lunch we would get talking to other motorhome owners 1 was telling my husband about wild camping not sure I'm ready for that yet

The only person we met who waved her fist at us must have been eighty if not older on the single track road I couldn’t pull in the pull ins were her side if I could I would have done but then we were told beware of some of the locals!!!

We covered 1500 miles from home to home our motorhome delivered 30 to the gallon would we do it again without doubt yes but next time we would take longer than 2 weeks next trip Weymouth after that North Norfolk we are totally hooked.
