first motorhome

This story happened on: 08/07/2012

Cool Well folks we are picking up our first motorhome on 3rd august, going to take it the maragowan site in Killin for the weekend so any one that is on the site that weekend we will be looking for some friendly faces and may be a bit of advice and probably some help. Any way hope to meet some new friends on new experience.

We wish you well. We are looking at buying our first motorhome early next year. Never had a caravan or motorhome before so thought I would join the club and pick up some useful tips before stepping in and going for it. Such a lot of different types and layouts but I think I have a much better idea of what we need than 6 months ago. Let me know how you get on with your first trip. Setting things up etc. anything I might need to lookout for in the future.

Hope you get the help. I'm sure everyone will be freindly and helpfull.

GlynVicky - When we were trying to decide whether to go for a motorhome or not (we did BTW) we looked back over how many times we had used the car when we'd been tent camping - turned out we very rarely used the car and in fact we tended to go for sites with public transport nearby, that way you can look at the area you are visiting and have no worries about parking or having a beer with our lunch if we wanted to Wink - I would add that if you are looking for a motorhome then try to imagine how the space in it will be used when you camp. For instance if your cooking area is by the main entrance, will it be a problem when people come in or out whilst cooking perhaps? Or do you want to have to make the bed up to go to sleep or have it there all day so you can have nap without having to disrupt the whole van (perhaps after that lunchtime pint???) Hope this is useful, it was for us - happy vanning !
