Pecking my nuts

This story happened on: 02/05/2012

Low Park Wood that week in late March when it got to 25 degrees.

Absolutely fabulous week - huge pitch (108 I think), then most of them are. In the area called Lakeland Heights, where you get lots of birds on your nuts - woodypecker, jay( waits for the fallout), nuthatch - 5 types of tits, robin, treecreeper.

Had some great fun with the squirrels- 5 of them at once swinging from the 3 feeders - tried to deter them - first of all I put grease on the feeder pole - hilarious to see them try and jump up and then slide down the pole. Did not take long for them to figure out they could jump straight onto the feeders from a nearby branch - drastic measures - bought a water pistol from Poundland ( yes - £1) - worked a treat for about 10 times then the squirrel realised he only got wet so he stayed on chewing away and got absolutely soaked.

Just a tip - if you like bird feeding at Low Park try to stick to the north side of the area - they like this best - do not know why.
