Dogs need holidays too

This story happened on: 15/05/2012

Ive spent quite some time early this year to organise a weeks holiday for my family consisting of my husband, two kids and 3 Newfoundland dogs. To say ive had some great responses back from sites than I expected, when asking them would they consider one extra dog in the party? I fully understand the logic behind the one/ two dog only rule, for those who arnt doggie minded I suppose three dogs could be their worst nightmare on a weekend or week away parked a few yards from them!!!

The thing is we bought our first caravan so we take our dogs with us, as we always felt so guilty leaving them behind in kennels. Which not only stressed the dogs out but made our holiday not as happy as it is now. All three of our dogs are rescued and we have in true Newfoundland tradition trained them to do water rescue and draught carting, which is why most of our trips tend to be near lakes or the seaside. They are very well behaved dogs and we are extreamly responsible owners, as we value our fellow campers peaceful holiday as much as we do ours.

This summer we are off to Scotland with all three dogs, the site are more than happy about it as they have accomodated owners with Newfs in the past. The big bonus is it is a caravan club site, which in the past we have only ever taken 2 dogs and had to leave one with family. If any one knows of club sites who are willing to take a party like ours on, near good walks and water please do let me know.
