Low grade tyres on your caravan

This story happened on: 12/03/2012

Travelling home from Devon on M4 near J13 sliproad eastbound last August after a fantastic 2.5 weeks stay at CC Hillhead site when a tyre blew on the caravan, significant damage to the side of the van (fortunately windows remained untouched) and to the wheel arch but caravan mover saved what could of been catastrophic damage. CC insurance took care of all the repairs albeit they took from Sept > Jan to fix due lack of available Fleetwood/Vanlander spares. Moral here is, check your tyres regularly and replace at least every 3 > 5 years. Tyre/s on our van were on from caravan manufacture but were of a very low grade quality unknown to us. Make sure you have the highest grade tyres you can afford on your van (including the spare) if you want to hang onto your van!! Looking forward to Hillhead again in Aug 2012 and going to the British Speedway GP at Cardiff on 25 Aug.
