New Zealand on a Tight Budget Day 2

This story happened on: 16/02/2017

Well the rain definitely arrived overnight! We enjoyed a scenic drive north through the lush green rain forest and the most rolling of rolling farm land to Whangerai - New Zealand's most northerly city. On the way we paused for coffee at a scenic car park overlooking an estuary when two vehicles pulled up, a couple of young men jumped out, ran across the bridge and performed synchronised back flips into the fast flowing waters. We did see them emerge unscathed on the other side!

The rain had almost stopped by the time we got here so we sauntered into town to the marina and enjoyed a visit to the famous Clapham Clock Museum named after its major donor an eccentric Yorkshire man who settled locally. The next couple of days are likely to be pretty mixed weather wise but we have plans - our site host informs us this rain has broken an "Australian style drought" !
