New Zealand on a tight budget.Day 8

This story happened on: 22/02/2017

After watching the sun rise over the bay we set off on the slow road round the coast heading south. Our first stop was at a really wonderful craft centre, garden and cafe overlooking Helena Bay - some very classy (and expensive) stuff on display.
We then drove past some really strangely terraced fields to the intriguingly entitled "Longest Foot Bridge in the Southern Hemisphere" at Whananki. Well it was a foot Bridge and it was very long, I can't deny it! the really good bit was that we chased at least three kingfishers up the orad on the way back.
Then we did a swimming tour (well I say swimming - it was a lot of jumping about in big surf) of some very fine beaches from Matapori south before ending up at a DOC site in the dunes at Urititi. It's a beautiful evening and the Weta are all chirping away. there are agapanthus and hottentot fig in flower all around. Very nice.
