Camping at the Heart of the Family for 50+ Years!

This story happened on: 22/03/2012

I just want to tell everyone all about our camping experiences, but I would take all the space up!!  On advice of the Editor of our Caravan Club Magazine, I have decided to plug my small book on our experiences!  I know that it is contrary to the Terms and Conditions of selling on this forum but without this opportunity I would not be able to spread the good word to the converted and new campers alike.  I did send a copy of my book to the Club Magazine but unfortunately it got lost, hence the advice to open up a discussion on camping in its many forms and the experiences within that 'field'!

I wrote my book over 2 years, a sort of therapy to keep my mind on other things after our son had a massive brain stem stroke in August 2006 which has resulted in him being 'locked-in' eg. a perfectly good brain, locked in his own body.  He cannot eat, drink, talk, move but he can communicate by blinking and is my best critic with regards to my book.  He has a wonderful sense of humour and the world would be all the poorer without him, he is an inspiration.

I started camping at 8 years old with my parents and as with most of us, continue into our grown up lives with children and grand-children!  We have travelled the world but our best memories are our camping adventures in New Zealand, the UK and Europe.  Our modes of camping home have supplied us with refuge, comfort and joy and more experienced campers and new alike, will I hope, enjoy and in turn reminisce, along with my memories as you read!  My book is available on Amazon and is called:  'Camping with Kiwi, Helga, Rene and Others'.  I would be grateful if you would give it a go! maybe even review it positive or negative!  Happy camping to one and all!
