The Big Bad Wolf in the Lakes

This story happened on: 17/04/2012

Big bad Wolf was a story that enabled my Grandson J to use his imagination to the full. He loved the three little pigs and for months in early 2010 we built houses in the lounge, looked for him on our walks, found him in parks and woods. J loves the binoculars I have in the car and had to have them every time we went out (2010). They enable him to see all sorts of places and events  use his imagination and story telling skills – he is excellent at developing a story line.

My favourite is our trip to Meathop Fell in May 2010. We had written our shopping lists and set off from the site whilst Nana stayed behind to get her shower.

The conversation went something like this.

Where are we going Grandad?

We’re go the supermarket to get our shopping.

Big Bad wolf has blown down the supermarket.

I think we should go to a different one then.

He has blown down all the supermarkets.

He might have missed this one because it’s hidden behind houses.

He might follow us Grandad.

Well you keep an eye out for him

My Mum says ‘keep your eyes peeled’

OhOh Granddad he lives along here.

We will have to be very quiet when we pass his house.

Which one is his house Jake?

The one that says ‘BIG BAD WOLF LIVES HERE’ There it is - be very quiet.

We get to the Co=op and do our shopping – no mention of BBW. When we get back in the car and drive out of the car park –

OhOh Granddad there he is going in to blow it down.

Looking through thebinoculars he says – OhOh Granddad he’s blown our caravan  down he’s eaten Nana while she’s in shower.

Oh dear J what are we going to do?

We can save Nana – I’ll cut him open with my saw (Early Learning Bosch tool kit!) and you can pull her out of his tummy.

Eeee! J I’ll be covered in blood.

Don’t be silly Grandad – he’s only a ‘tend’ (pretend) wolf!!!!!

End of conversation as Grandad nearly drives into a lamppost laughing.
