Expensive Sleeping Bags!!

This story happened on: 31/01/2012

It was one of the damp, dreary Sundays at the end of February beginning of March when you are not in the mood for anything just waiting for Spring and hopefully better weather.

It was on such an afternoon last year that we dicided to make a list of items that needed replacing or replenishing in our caravan for the forthcoming season .Late in the afternoon we decided to make a last minute visit to our local dealer Glossop Caravans and have a look at a few accessories but mainly replacement sleeping bags.

We arrived at Glossop Caravans with 30 minutes to closing and having parked the car quickly started to make our way to the accessory shop but on route my wife suddenly stopped and started to look at a caravan on the used caravan lot.

Yes you have guessed it - within 30 minutes we had viewed the van agreed a price, including the part ex on the Avondale we had purchased from them 9 months earlier and were on our way home the proud owners of a new to us Bailey Pagaent Monarch with a new awning in the boot but no sleeping bags!!!

Rash decisions such as this are not what we usual do and for the next few days we worried about whether or not we had done the right thing! Well we have not regretted it once and our "new" van has reinvigourated our love of caravanning with 2011 being our busiest ever with trips to Oxford, Paek District, Northumbria, West Yorkshire, Lake District and North Yorkshire on a selection of club sites and CLs. We even made a trip in December to Strid Wood which is a first for us with the van being "layed up" by the end of October.

Having been to the Manchester show last weekend and resisting the temptations on offer all we have do now on dreary Sundays is stay away from caravan dealers until the Middle of March when we are off on our first trip of 2012 to Cambridge.

We have a busy caravanning year ahead and hopefully I will have some stories to tell about our adventures.

Oh by the way - we did buy some new slepping bags but online!!

I know how you feel....Years ago we arrived at the accessory department to buy some mastic sealant expecting to spend around £10 and ended up ordering a new caravan!
