First time caravaning

This story happened on: 12/08/2021

Well, due to the covid 19 we had to cancel our defected holiday to croatia. We decided to buy a caravan, but realised i hadn't towed before.  Looking forward to the day we went away but apprehensive about towing, it wasn't too bad. First trip was to bournemouth, a 225 mile trip, stopping once in the services just to check over the caravan and wheels. Once on site reverse parked the caravan, remember never towed before i managed to land it in position.  Setting up was more difficult remembering what the guy had showed us when picking the caravan up. Im sure the water pump was that noisy. First night in the van, basically we was melting! Had set the heating too high. Never thought caravans would get that warm.  Were now half way through the holiday and thought to join a couple of clubs.. this one included. So, so far so good! Sorry if ive bore everyone reading, thought id share my first experience.

Thanks for posting your beginners story, glad you survived! We did the opposite on our first night away we left the big roof light fully open and nearly froze! Hope you enjoy all of your next trips, things will get better. smile

Lovely to hear your story. Very bold.  Have just bought my first caravan. But cheated. Had a motor moved fitted!  Trying to work through all the buttons etc before setting off.  Think I'll go to my local site Southport first for a try out. Will.only be 2miles from home! And no hills👍😍
