New Zealand on a Budget Day 11

This story happened on: 25/02/2017

We had a bit of a lie in and went for a short walk before heading for Taupo. a lovely swim at the delightful Kinloch on the lake and then into Taupo itself. so many people - so many fast food outlets.  We found little to our liking but made sure we visited the truly impressive Haku Falls before we left - a huge volume of water 300,000 litres a second, exits the late at the start of the Waikato River down a very narrow gorge before plummeting over a relatively short drop - one of the many venues for thrill seekers in the vicinity. We also saw some very extensive geothermal power generating going on with miles of pipeline and steaming vents.

We then headed south, stopping for swims along the lake before camping near the south end.
