Ladies towing course experience

This story happened on: 13/07/2012

My husband and I started caravaning last year and he currently does all the driving but I thought it would be a good idea to also learn so booked onto the Caravan Clubs towing course which I completed this weekend. I was hoping ther would be some other ladies on the course and ther was. Tony our teacher was fantastic really puts you at ease and guides you through everthing. I also went on to do a 4 hour on road course which was so worth while. I am feeling really confident now to tow our 6 berth caravan in a couple of weeks. Ladies all I can say is go for it, you can do it.

Hello, i was just thinking about going on one of these courses, as i towed our 5 berth Elddis to blackpool over the weekend for the first time and to say i was nervous is an understatement! Ive towed trailers in the past (only forwards) can't really reverse in a straight line, but to tow a big caravan was a big thing for me. Silly question but the people who train you at the courses, do they do the same amount of going backwards than forwards? I think there is alot more ladies doing the towing than men these days. :)

Yes they do, you stop when you feel you are confident at each stage. I was the first person to start when we did the reversing section, but it was all fine. I have now towed our 24ft caravan twice with my husband next to me and that is saying something. He was very complimentary to me. Great course.
