Site 20 – Greenfields CL site, Devon

Our twentieth site! Yes we’ve made it to twenty although the challenge is not complete yet. We still have to visit Wales and complete the hundred mini challenges along the way (which we’re slowly but surely working our way through).

As a certificated location, this site offers few of the usual Caravan Club facilities but provides a smaller and more peaceful location away from the crowds – ideal when visiting Devon and Cornwall in the height of the summer holidays. Greenfields is exactly what the name suggests – a site for five caravans or motorhomes in a green field, surrounded by green fields. The owners border the site in a cottage with static caravans and B&B facilities. Although situated on the main road between Bude and Bideford, the noise level is not distracting and provides easy access to many of the attractions in the area. The site is well kept with a beautiful lawn and hard standing pitches. A toilet and shower (£1) is available. The couple that own the site are very friendly and welcoming.

Whilst staying at this site, we visited a few of the surrounding attractions and managed to meet up with family (holidaying in the area) to complete our geocaching challenge. There is so much to do and see in the area that we will have to come back again for a longer period. There are also many events taking place from sporting and music events to food and beer/ wine festivals.
