#XploreMore 2014 - Site 24 Ferry Meadows, Peterborough

Site 24 - Ferry Meadows, Peterborough

What a site! This large site houses up to 265 caravans and motorhomes over two pitches, each with its own toilet block, facilities, play area and even its own fish and chip van! The two halves could be sites in themselves. The site located nearest to the office / reception provides hard-standing pitches, bordered by hedges and seems to appeal to couples whereas the site across the road is more spacious, offering more open spaces with grassy pitches - it appeals more to families and this is where we decided to pitch.

Ferry Meadows is a very popular site. It was half full when we arrived mid-week but quickly started to fill up as the weekend drew in.

Ferry Meadows is nestled between a very active Country Park and a Golf club; it therefore provides plenty of activities and entertainment. The Country Park, less than 5 minutes walk away, offers walk and cycle tracks around a lake, a steam train, play areas, a cafe providing hot and cold drinks as well as snacks and a newly refurbished watersports centre. For those wishing to  venture further afield Peterborough is a short drive away.

Peterborough provided us with the ideal base; we travelled easily into London by train and were able to visit friends further north. When not away from the site, we wandered into the Country Park, the girls played on the playground and enjoyed exploring the vast surroundings on their bikes.
