Challenge 3 - Find out where your caravan was made - visit the Elddis factory

This weekend was Elddis’ 50th anniversary. We thought that this would be the ideal time to complete our 100th challenge - a double celebration! 

We arranged to stay in a certificated location not far from Consett and attended the open weekend of celebrations on Saturday 20th September. It was a miserably wet day but fellow caravanners all flocked into the Elddis car park to get a sneak preview of this year’s new models. Smooth radio also attended the event and provided the musical backdrop. Food and ice-cream were served throughout the day and factory tours were offered. The girls loved exploring the different models, comparing features and discussing the pros and cons of each. We were excited to spot the latest of model of the Xplore 574 but felt a strong loyalty for our own. 

The highlight of the day and the marking of the completion of our 100 challenges was the factory tour. We trotted along in a large group around the factory floor being shown the different stages of development and the materials used to create a range of different caravans and motorhomes. It was fascinating and gave us all an appreciation of the manufacturing process. After a long day we returned to our cosy caravan, pleased that we had completed our 100 challenges and the overall Xplore Challenge.
