Heartbroken

Getting our first caravan gave us a new llease of life. We had hit a bit of a stalemate. Our children all grown we decided to buy a van and see the country. We loved our first van and had many happy years travelling. Then we decided to retire. We both took our pensions and although we loved our van, there were things we would change and now was our chance. We bought a beautiful second hand Bailey Unicorn Cartegena. It was our dream van. We had a 4WD motor mover fitted and thought we had everything we wanted. Our first trip in retirement was 7 weeks touring the South East and it was bliss. After 41 years of the rat race, we finally were at peace and very happy. We came home and had a trip planned to take our two grandchildren to Scarborough, when our lovely van was stolen. We were devastated. A blow torch and crowbar was used to remove the Alko hitchlock and wheel locks and the tracker is useless. We couldn’t sleep or eat and felt completely violated. It’s the personal stuff that can’t be replaced, collected over many years and trips - memories. We were even more devastated when our van was discovered on Facebook being advertised as ‘ready to go, hot buy’. It has been reported to the police but it doesn’t seem it can be traced. So, do all you can to protect your vans but most importantly get the best insurance you can.
