Finders Keepers, Losers Weepers?

This story happened on: 16/03/2012

We've just come back from a lovely few days at Meathop Fell site.  I'm a bit disgruntled though... Going into the toilet block midway through the first afternoon I realised that the shower gloves lying on the side shelf were mine (very recognisable as they'd had a mix up with a 'blue wash').  However there was no sign of the very nice body scrub and my travel container of shampoo that I realised I must also have left behind.  The following day as I picked up my newspaper there was a lady handing in site keys and she was saying she too had left toiletries in the showers, only to find them gone when returning shortly afterwards.  If you find a 50p piece in the street then perhaps Finders Keepers, Losers Weepers would apply, but in a  'Members' club surely we should be able to expect that if you inadvertantly leave items behind in a private club area, that they would still be there when you return later the same day, or at least be available to collect from the wardens.  Yes it was careless of me to leave them in the first place, but it's something many of us has done.  All that aside the site was well worth the visit, the wardens were really friendly and helpful, facilities were great and the birdlife was incredible.

I would tend to agree though don't expect miracles will happen! A couple of weeks ago I forgot to pick up my shower gel from the holder on the shower wall. I realised when I was sorting my wash bag back at the van and walked back to get it about 10-15 minutes later. I was pleased to see the bottle was still there but not so happy when I found it was empty so someone must have used it and couldn't even be bothered to throw the empty away! It was about quarter full when I left it. The cheek of it!!!
