Choose your outfit cover
Caravan Cover allows you to choose the type of cover that best suits your needs:
New for Old cover is available for outfits up to 15 years old. If the outfit is lost, stolen, or damaged beyond economic repair, the claim settlement will be based on the outfit's brand new equivalent.
Market Value cover is available for outfits of any age. If the outfit is lost, stolen, or damaged beyond economic repair, any claim settlement will be based on the outfit's market value; this is the 'second hand' value.
Paid Value cover is available for outfits of any age. If the outfit is lost, stolen, or damaged beyond economic repair, the claim settlement will be based on the amount you paid for your outfit.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
What is the difference between New for Old, Market Value and Paid cover?
When choosing cover for your outfit, consider how you want to be reimbursed if your outfit needs to be replaced: would you like a brand new one, a second-hand equivalent, or get back the amount of money you paid for the outfit?
- New for Old cover lets you buy a brand new equivalent if your outfit is lost, stolen, or damaged beyond economic repair. The cover value you choose must be sufficient to purchase a brand new, like-for-like replacement. Available for outfits up to 15 years old.
- Paid Value cover ensures you receive exactly what you originally paid for the outfit, protecting your initial investment. Available for outfits of any age, the claim settlement is based on the amount shown on your proof of purchase.
- Market Value cover allows you to buy a replacement outfit of similar age, make, and model if yours is lost, stolen, or damaged beyond repair. The cover value you choose should reflect your current outfit's second-hand market value, considering its make, model, age, and wear and tear.

How do I cut the cost of Caravan Cover?
To save money, when buying Caravan Cover, one thing you could do is to increase the excess - we offer a maximum of £500 excess. As you take on more risk with a higher excess, small claims that cost the same amount to process aren't covered, and the price you pay will reduce.
By having any of these, you can also reduce your price:
- using axle wheel locks
- using security alarms
- using a tracking device
- using an electronic anti-snaking device
- using a CaSSOA Platinum or Gold rated storage site
- using a Caravan and Motorhome Club secure storage site
- completing a Caravan and Motorhome Club caravan manoeuvring course.
-
How is the claims process different from caravan insurance?
Our claims handling administration service is provided by a third party, in a similar way to many caravan insurance providers. The key difference is that we provide guidance and support on claims management and have full discretion over whether to pay a claim and the amount to be paid. For more information, please visit our Claims guidance page.
-
What type of caravans do you cover?
Caravan Cover is designed to provide cover to all Caravan and Motorhome Club members, where possible. Our aim is to be as inclusive as possible. We aim to cover all type of caravans that have been built/designed in the UK or that meet UK towing rules and guidelines.
Caravan Cover is also suitable for all trailer tents, folding campers and fifth wheel caravans that meet UK towing guidelines.
-
How can I get an online quote?
In order to provide a quote, you will just need to confirm some basic information about your caravan, such as the make and model, current value, any security equipment installed and a few personal details. This will help us generate a quick quote tailored to your needs.
-
What does Overseas travel cover?
By selecting Overseas cover, the cover you choose is extended to Europe. Please refer to the Group Insurance Policy document for a full list of countries that you will be covered to travel to if you add this cover.
-
What does Friends and Family cover?
You need to add this cover if you want your outfit, equipment and contents to remain covered when your outfit is lent to friends or family members. There is no cover for anything owned by your friends or family.
-
Is there a minimum security requirement for Caravan Cover?
Yes, when the outfit is left unhitched from a towing vehicle, it must be immobilised or protected against theft by the use of at least one of the security devices listed below:
- A corner steady alarm, with a sensor on the corner steady (legs) of the outfit, which detects when the legs are being raised.
- A tilt alarm that detects external movement of the outfit eg. if the outfit is being hitched up, or moved.
- A wheel lock, is a device which fits through the wheel and locks to the chassis, to prevent wheel rotation and the outfit being towed away.
- A wheel clamp that fits around the wheel.
- A hitch lock which prevents the outfit from being hitched to a tow vehicle.
-
How can I amend/renew my Caravan Cover?
You can renew your Caravan Cover and update your renewal payment method, for example, by going to 'My Profile' and then clicking on 'My Cover'. Please read through your renewal invitation thoroughly. If you cannot see an option to renew, this could mean that you're on a continuous payment authority, so please check your cover documents.
If you would like to make any adjustments or discuss your Cover, one of our dedicated team members will be happy to help. You can use our Website Chat function, email, or call, and all the details are on our Contact Us page.
-
How do I make a claim online?
You will need to complete and submit a claim form, which will include details about the theft, damage or repairs, as well as related documents. We have more detailed information on How to make a claim.

What’s the difference between Caravan Cover and caravan insurance?
The Caravan and Motorhome Club is a mutual organisation, effectively owned by its members. This allows us to provide Caravan Cover as a discretionary mutual product to anyone who is a member of the Caravan and Motorhome Club.
Caravan Cover is not an insurance policy; however, it operates and chooses to pay claims similarly. We believe we provide even better protection than an insurer, because all payments we make are discretionary. As such, we can go above and beyond for our members when appropriate.
Our Caravan Cover has our members coming back every year.
Caravan Cover is provided by us; it’s like caravan insurance, but we think it’s even better. Caravan Cover is specifically designed for your caravanning lifestyle by a Club that truly cares. We also understand your passion to get away and enjoy the great outdoors. And it’s all backed by an expert team who oversee all aspects of your cover.
