The Caravan Club Announces its 2013/2014 Winter Site Redevelopments
The period 2013/14 is no exception and The Club is pleased to be able to reinvest between £10-£12 million for this purpose. Much of the work has already begun at many of the sites across the whole network and includes improvements to facilities and access points, as well as extending the number of pitches, thus ensuring that more of The Club's members get the opportunity to stay at the site of their choice.
Tony Barnett, Head of Estates for The Caravan Club says, "The schedule of work that is being undertaken this year is extensive, not only in terms of the number of sites that are being refurbished and extended, but also the amount of work that is being undertaken in order for these improvements to be achieved."

The list of sites to be developed are detailed below.
Works to the site commenced in the last quarter of 2013 and are expected to be completed by March 2014. This has included upgrade of the facilities, road and traffic and management systems, as well as the introduction of a new, dedicated arrivals area. A number of new, hardstanding pitches are to be added as well as improvement to a number of the serviced pitches. The children's play area will be relocated to a larger area and will provide more space to play.
Hook-up points will be upgraded and TV boosters added. The creation of a seasonal storage compound for up to 50 outfits will transform the site, and improvements to the A470 road will make access to the site easier.
Work is well under way to convert 28 pitches to hardstanding for the winter period. Any disruption on site will be kept to a minimum so as not to interrupt members' stay at this open-all-year site, and work is expected to be complete by March 2014.
New vehicle barriers are being installed to enhance security at the site, in time for its opening in March 2014.
In an effort to offer more choice and space to members, work is being carried out to improve some of the existing pitches by converting them to 11 new hardstanding and 23 existing hardstanding pitches are to be enlarged with completion in early March 2014.
This site will undergo refurbishment to the site reception. In addition, many sections of site roads will be resurfaced and widened in some areas to allow vehicles to manoeuvre more easily, and a new footpath is to be created. Due to the activity around the site entrance, the site will be closed until completion which is anticipated to be early April 2014.
New Forest Club CentenaryA decision has been made to convert 75 existing grass pitches into hard standing in order to provide members access to pitches for extended periods well into the season. In addition, a new area of the site is being developed to create 24 new grass pitches in time for the summer. The site will be closed whilst works are under way and completion is anticipated by March 2014.
The two toilet blocks will both undergo a major transformation. The main block is to be demolished and replaced with a new, larger block offering more facilities for members. The smaller facility will be given a facelift in the form of replacement cubicle screens, sanitaryware and electrical equipment.
A total of 12 hard standing pitches will be created by converting existing grass pitches. Ten pitches will be enlarged and a further 16 will be transformed to serviced pitches.
The reception area will undergo some refurbishment work and the play area relocated to another part of the site. Automatic entry and exit barriers will be installed, and road traffic management alterations will be made, ensuring easier access to the site.
Work being undertaken at Putts Corner is extensive and is planned to be completed and ready to receive its first visitors from June 2014.
During the winter period, an additional 18 hardstanding pitches will be created. The ferry pitches will also see some improvements, enabling the site to be used during prolonged wet weather. Access from the road at one point of the site will enable easier access onto the grass pitches. Completion is expected by March 2014.
Phase 2 of 3 began in October last year to extend this very popular site. An extra 79 hardstanding pitches, some of which will be serviced, are being created, taking the total number to 174.
A new, central amenity block is being built to the usual Caravan Club high standards and will be equipped with disabled facilities, laundry, dishwashing room and a baby/toddler bathroom.
Work on Phase 2 is expected to be completed by May 2014 and the final Phase 3 will commence in October 2014 when a complete refurbishment of the existing toilet block will be carried out in time for Easter 2015.
St Agnes Beacon
During this period, the reception will undergo an upgrade to improve the layout to create more space and new laundry equipment is also to be installed. Expected completion date is April 2014.
Works commenced in November 2013 to refurbish the southern toilet block and showers. Plans are also underway to construct a new building to house site equipment and a new office. The site will be closed whilst work is being done and anticipated completion date is February 2014.
Work is planned to convert six of the existing grass pitches into hardstanding, and for 18 pitches to be enlarged. The play area is to be replaced and access to pitches improved. Completion is expected by March 2014.
The site is currently divided into two and the warehouse, that currently separates the two areas, will be demolished in order that improvements to the site can begin. To enable this to happen, part of the site will be cordoned off but members will finally benefit from a much improved layout and increased number of pitches, including some serviced. No completion date has yet been set.
