Really enjoyable stay a wonderful small coastal town

Costa do Vizir
We have just had 7 nights at Costa Do Vizir. We received a warm welcome and were allowed to choose the best pitch for us. We had water to the pitch and electricity - although the electricity box was feeding a lot of pitches and did get overloaded a few nights, with one night us having to run our fridge on gas as we couldn't get it to stop tripping. However this did not detract from our stay at all. The pool is wonderful. Porto Covo is a lovely small town. Highly recommend the Supermercado Tropicação, which has fresh bakery section and super cakes! Only 10 minutes from the site to a wonderful beach where we spent two evenings watching the sun go down. On our last night we treated ourselves to a meal at Lamelas - it only took us 20 minutes to walk there and enjoyed the most wonderful local cuisine with all products including wine sourced from the local area. Sines is a good visit, with a great free museum within the castle and the views from the castle walls are worth seeing. We kayaked on the River Mira at Milafonte and everywhere we went we were able to park easily.

Very pleasant stay.....

Costa do Vizir
The arrivals area is welcoming & mirrors the decor of the houses in the local village. Staff very helpful & friendly. Pool area is great, with a separate grassy area with loungers & shades. Restaurant on site looked good but we didn't use it. We were pitched in area B with EHU & water but pitches like much of Europe were bare, sandy soil which isn't the most appealing & had an abundance of ant holes..... The walk into town is easy, however there are plenty of redevelopments going on so it is not the most enjoyable walk. Once there, there are plenty of restaurants, coffee shops & bars. A good supermarket (Supermercado Tropicacao) in Rua Salvador Vilhena & a great indoor market for veg & fish (Mercado Municipal) open 6 days, closed on a Monday. Beaches & bays were very clean.

Great location

Costa do Vizir
Great location Just spent 14 nights at Turiscampo and wish we stayed here. Lovely walks outside camp, 10min stroll to coves and beaches, centre 15 min nice level stroll. Showers ok, only disabled with hose shower so used that one Lovely pool and sun beds I think it’s more for adults here Dogs barking on site but that’s owners not dogs fault. Shop not very good and expensive Lovely bars and restaurants/ supermarkets in centre Really nice site, lots of work going on for improvements, shower could do with all been hose ones Would return and would recommend if just adults as little to do for children Lovely location if no access to transport. Would of been good to get area map when checked in but nothing, also tourist info in centre said they ran out of maps🤷‍♀️

Alternative site offered to Turiscampo due to building works

Costa do Vizir
We were offered this site as an alternative to the hosted site at Turiscampo two weeks prior to our departure. The site is well laid out, all of the sand/gravel pitches in area A have electricity, but do not have water piped into them, the grass in area B have both water and electricity. Area C has a limited number of hard standing pitches with electricity and water laid on. However, these pitches are in high demand and I would suggest that anyone booking this site through the club ensure they ask for one of these to be booked to ensure availability. In area A there are no taps for filling fresh water and I could only fill up from the taps on the empty sites on area B which can be somewhat onerous. During the winter season the swimming pool and restaurant are closed as are most of the restaurants in nearby Porto Covo. There is not much in the surrounding area to do and with the lack of the facilities here that are offered at Turiscampo, it can make for a boring stay. The site is well suited to a lengthy summer stay, but I would not recommend longer than two or three nights during the winter. In hindsight, I would not have taken this site for ten days as the alternative offered and having done so we are pretty well stuck with it. What was planned as a three week hosted holiday has turned into a disappointment. To sum up, I would recommend this as a summer destination for the nearby beaches and water sport activities, but for winter, its a non starter for an extended stay.
