Why stay here ...

Situated on the outskirts of Salamanca, Regio is ideal for a short city break or a stopover on the way to southern Spain or Portugal. It’s set in the luxurious grounds of a 4 star hotel, which has amenities that guests can use including a restaurant, pool complex and wellness centre, for which discounts are available. The campsite have also recently made some significant improvements including the addition of a brand new cafeteria, small restaurant, terrace and shop on site for guests to use as they please.

It’s a fairly small site with friendly, efficient staff and clearly marked, sloping pitches. A bus runs from the site entrance to the centre of Salamanca, 4 miles away. This thriving university city is heaped with Spanish history and culture, and a captivating destination. With sandstone buildings, an impressive Plaza Mayor lined with bars and cafés, and the famous cathedrals with their intricate carvings, it makes for a fantastic day out.

Ideal for visiting Salamanca

Regio
We stayed here in May 2022 but booked through the ACSI App as it was cheaper than through CAMHC. Reception was at the Hotel while we were there. Staff spoke excellent English and were initially very helpful. Pitches were well defined and of a reasonable size although mostly slightly sloping. There was a power failure while we were there, affecting a large section of the site and several units had to move. A key was required to access the disabled facilities. They are in the male and female facilities which means a carer of the opposite sex has to warn other users before they enter to avoid embarrassment. They were kept spotlessly clean. There was a discount for the Cafeteria which was actually a very pleasant restaurant with good disabled access. There was also an on site restaurant we didn’t try. The pool wasn’t open while we were there. A direct bus to the centre of the city terminates in the hotel car park. It takes about 35 minutes going in and 20 minutes coming back (due to serving a city suburb on the inward journey). You pay the driver and it is very easy to use. We would happily use this site again.

Great spot to bus into Salamanca from

Regio
Large grounds and good facilities. Poor electrical hook up, several people who needed it had to move pitches as half the park went out. Hardly any wi fi, but maybe it was an electrical issue that night, Excellent bus service into Salamanca. We ate in the hotel but have no idea why it’s 4 stars. Things are quick , deep fried , not a great choice, but edible…….

Nearly Didn’t Book

Regio
We wanted to visit Salamanca and were looking for a site open in December but nearly passed this one by due to some harsh reviews. That would have been a shame as we found it more than adequate for our purpose of visiting the city over a couple of days. It’s not five star but nor does it claim to be. A question of managing expectations perhaps? Most of the water was turned off but not unreasonable give the temperature fell to -4. Some of the pitches were very untidy due to branch cutting but there were plenty of others available. Booking in was at the hotel reception where meals are available. That was the only disappointment as the food was poor. The showers are old fashioned but clean and hot water plentiful. There is a bus leaving from reception every hour which for the princely sum of one euro forty delivers you straight into the city centre. Overall an excellent stopping off point for a city visit.

Fine for a couple of days

Regio
Reception was friendly and competent. Toilets and showers were clean and well maintained. Pool was of a high standard. There is a reasonably priced bar that does serve food but we did not try it so could not comment. There is a bus stop right outside the front door which will take you directly into Salamanca for 1 Euro 40. The site overall is adequate for a couple of days but no more.
