Job Title: Site Manager Exeter Racecourse Club Campsite
Responsible to: Regional Manager
Line management responsibility: None

Purpose of job: 

Responsible for managing the site safely, efficiently and effectively by delivering high levels of service, being a part of a motivated and competent team, creating a safe and enjoyable environment that enables all guests to enjoy their stay. 

Key Tasks/Accountabilities: 

  • To manage a safe, effective and efficient site and operation, whilst ensuring all guests have an enjoyable experience whilst on site. 
  • To deliver safe operational practices and maintenance of site and equipment to ensure compliance with legal obligations and the Club’s policies and procedures.
  • To manage and develop Assistant Site Managers (and if required, relief staff) to ensure the achievement of points one and two above. 
  • Provide high levels of customer service in accordance with the Club's standards and procedures to meet guests expectations. 
  • Adhere to annual budgets and manage spending in order to achieve your profit target. 
  • To prepare and review regular financial reports, analysing performance against budget and suggesting improvements for revenue or cost savings. 
  • Ensure the site and the site's facilities are maintained to a high level of cleanliness and appearance to comply with the Club's standards and the Health and Safety policy. 
  • To be prepared to provide cover at multiple locations and roles, including Experience Freedom Sites with Yurts/Glamping Pods/Camping Pods/Airstreams.
  • To ensure activities are subject to suitable risk assessment and/or review and those control measures identified are implemented in a timely manner. 
  • Ensure all PPE provided is used, maintained and stored as per training. Ensure any deficiencies and/or defects are reported to the Regional Manager in a timely manner.
  • To record any accident, incident, or near miss in accordance with Club procedures, to undertake the initial investigation and report the findings to the Regional Manager and our Health and Safety department within agreed timescales. 
  • Maintain accurate computerised and written records and provide efficient administration of the site to support the Club's operational procedures. 
  • Apply Club policies, procedures and rules in a fair and common sense manner in accordance with the requirement of the site. 
  • To be familiar with the Club’s Site Rules within the relevant areas of the Sites Directory and Handbook. 
  • Maintain effective and friendly working relationships with colleagues to promote a positive working environment, both at East Grinstead and throughout the Sites Network. 
  • To ensure through point three above that in the absence of the Site Managers, a consistent level of service, standards, facilities and working practices are maintained in accordance with the requirement of your site. 
  • Be prepared to undertake all training required; including refresher, pre-season, first aid, people management and health and safety training. 
  • Be prepared to undertake all reasonable tasks required to ensure consistent running of the site. 
  • To establish and maintain positive working relationships with local authorities, suppliers, contractors, and the surrounding community. 
  • To contribute to site promotional activities to help increase bookings and maximize site occupancy. 
  • To be fully trained in and ready to execute specific site emergency plans (e.g., for fire, severe weather, or major incidents). 
  • To manage site inventory, including the control and ordering of stock for any on-site retail or maintenance supplies. 

Essential Skills & Experience Required: 

  • Experience of staying on a variety of Club sites 
  • Demonstrates a passion for and knowledge of the role 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills at all levels 
  • Ability to work effectively on your own as well as in a team 
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills 
  • Experience of working in a customer service environment 
  • Experience of providing conflict resolutions 
  • Ability to provide solutions in an ever changing environment 
  • Ability to follow instructions 
  • Experience of cash handling and card transactions 
  • IT literate, use of Microsoft Office. Experience of using G-Suite would be advantageous (Sheets and Docs) 
  • Ability to use heavy machinery, including mowers, blowers and strimmers to attend to garden and pitch maintenance 
  • A full and valid Driving Licence is essential
